What kind of man kills his entire family? Josh Powell

Sunday afternoon, while most of us were preparing to watch the Super Bowl, Josh Powell grabbed his two sons, seven-year-old Charles and five-year-old Braden, from a social worker, slammed the door of his house and as the social worker watched, horrified, Powell’s house exploded into a mass of flames.
Josh Powell’s wife, Susan, had disappeared from their Utah home in 2009, an evening Powell claims he took his two sons camping, during a blizzard, in a remote part of the state. A judge had given custody of Charles and Braden to Susan’s parents, and Powell was involved in a bitter custody battle with his son’s grandparents. Josh Powell had also been ordered to undergo a “psycho-sexual” evaluation after child pornography was found on a computer he owned. Josh Powell’s father, Steve was arrested last year, charged with possession of child pornography. Josh Powell was living with his parents at the time.
Josh Powell had been interviewed by CBS news and maintained his innocence in Susan Cox Powell’s disappearance, stating he loved his wife and would never harm her. The Cox family attorney believes that Josh Powell is lying, specifically because of statements his two sons made after opening up about the night their mother disappeared. Charles and Braden, according to attorney Steve Downing, say that “They had gone out camping. Their mother had been in the trunk and later, their mom and dad walked out into the desert and mommy got lost.”
Josh Powell, who resided in Washington State, reportedly sent his attorney an email about ten minutes before the fire that read “I’m sorry. Goodbye.” Ed Troyer, of the Pierce County sheriff’s department, believes an accelerant was used, especially after a neighbor, Ryan Mickle, stated “I just heard a huge explosion. It shook my house and then I ran outside and the whole house was on fire almost immediately.”
Firefighters found three bodies inside the home, Josh Powell and his two young sons. Investigators are calling it a crime scene, and friends are mourning the loss of Charles and Braden-a candlelight vigil was held at their school.
What kind of man does something like this? According to his own sons, Josh Powell put his wife in the trunk of a car, drove out into the desert and left her there. Utah authorities are catching up to the Washington events, and cannot say publicly how this tragedy will affect their investigation into Susan Powell’s disappearance. Josh Powell’s wife is missing, presumed dead, his own father was arrested for what may in all likelihood be Josh Powell’s child pornography, and now his two young sons are dead.
We may never know the story behind the Powell tragedy, thanks to Josh Powell’s selfishness and cowardice. Hopefully, Utah authorities will find Susan Powell, and be able to close one aspect of this horrible case. But Charles and Braden will never grow up, never graduate from elementary school, never have a first kiss, and never get married. Their young lives were cut short by a selfish and obviously disturbed man, who, in this writer’s opinion, chose murder and suicide rather than embrace the responsibilities of being a husband and father.
To the Cox family, the Powell family and everyone affected by Josh Powell’s narcissism and selfishness, I’m sorry. The nation grieves with you, we weep with you, and we hold you in our thoughts and hears. To Charlie and Braden I say the world will never know what you could have been, but we will always remember you as brave and sweet and innocent. You will remain forever young.

Whatever! Children died in many other countries who never went to elementary school, never had a kiss or never get married! Those boys are going to be like Josh Powell if you don’t let them die, who knows!
