U.S. Army Says No to Nasty Nugent
The things we do often come back to haunt us and Ted Nugent’s big mouth is costing him big bucks. Perhaps a more responsible approach is called for but doubtful that someone like this guy could do that. A rabid member of the NRA and no doubt screeching Christian, Ted Nugent, is already blaming the president for the actions of the United States Army.
Even the US Army is taking exception to Ted Nugent’s violent political rhetoric. Citing his recent criticism of President Obama, the Army has canceled his June 23 gig at Fort Knox, Kentucky. “After learning of opening act Ted Nugent’s recent public comments about the president of the United States, Fort Knox leadership decided to cancel his performance on the installation,” according to a post on the Army’s Facebook page. Ticket holders now get to see REO Speedwagon and Styx, although cancellations are being accepted.
A Fort Knox spokesman said that allowing Nugent to perform “would be a conflict of interest since the military has the obligation to be apolitical.” But The Hollywood Reporter reminds us that Fort Knox is promoting an upcoming show by comedian Jay Phillips, who supports Obama on Twitter, and has let Ludracris play despite his pro-Obama song “Politics as Usual” (and his dismissal of Hillary Clinton in 2008 as a “bitch” who is “irrelevant”). Fort Knox did not return calls or emails about the apparent discrepancy. Hat tip to MSNBC for the story.
Do you think the Army did the right thing in cancelling this clown’s concert or do you think in so doing they were being political?

Ted Nugent is pure rock and roll no synthesizers no computers just rock and roll give me a break he’s an American he’s a hunter either rock and roll or shut up and jam
Ted Nugent should disappear back into the woods around texas and alabama and to his kkk, I mean nra meetings, and accept that his career as a rock star died with the 80’s. REO Speedwagon and Styx are tons better than any act Nugent ever has been in. Granted, I would rather see Ozzy and Metallica together for a show than REO and Styx, but that is a personal taste thing.
I would ask people to remember what everyone on the fright wing did to the Dixie Chicks because of a statement Natalie Maines made, only saying that she was embarrassed commander cuckoo bananas was from Texas. No violence, like suck on my machine gun or anything but they got shafted. Nugent should suffer the same fate, regardless how it is perceived by the fright wing. They are all good about calling everyone else traitors and unpatriotic, but damn if you do that to them, it’s oppression. Brings to mind the Monty Python skit of help help, we’re being oppressed.
Yes, the Army did the right thing, but for the wrong reason. I mean, let’s face it: REO Speedwagon is a much better act than Ted Nugent ever was, even in his glory days. Besides, a camouflage cowboy hat? Gimme a break, Ted-you’re just like GW Bush: all hat and no cattle.
