Conservative Supreme Court Lives Up To Name

The justices at SCOTUS are drinking the tea again, while refusing to modify their outrageous Citizen’s United ruling which allows unlimited campaign finance money to pour in from any source, regardless or motive or consequences.  In other words it allows rich people to buy elections, and in this case most of the rich people are corporate republican thugs who want to see elitist prigs like Mitt Romney in the White House.

There was hope, at least until today, that the republican justices would see the error of their earlier ruling, and at least allow states to weigh in on the campaign finance paradigm, but it was not to be:

(Newser) The US Supreme Court today struck down a Montana campaign finance law that would have allowed states to curb the impact of the court’s earlier Citizens United ruling. In a 5-4 vote along the court’s usual ideological divide, the court issued a summary reversal, ignoring liberal justices’ calls for a full hearing on the case, which they had hoped would allow the court to reconsider and perhaps overturn United in light of the massive spending that’s occurred since, the AP reports.

There seems to be no new beginning for America, just more and more dark days left over from the feckless Bush administration.  How depressing.

Jan Brewer is just putting the best face on a losing proposition. She won nothing in that vote. It will not be that long before the next profiling case is before the court and we need to win this election to keep the Repubs from have a long term lock on the Supreme Court. Ginsberg will not last another term. Hopefully neither will Thomas or Alito. This next president could truly alter the coming years.

“I’m just not gonna vote, THAT’LL show ’em.” If one more Herbal Tea Bagger says that after this vote, I’ll need bail money. This is a disaster, and Jan Brewer is so pleased with this ruling, it’s disgusting.
