Former Australian PM John Howard: Muslims Must Adapt or Get Out

The internet is filled with scams, and the great “Australian leaders want Muslims to adapt to our culture or get out” is one of the most popular. It seems that not only John Howard is credited with the following speech but so is current Australian PM Julia Gillard. Both speeches have been deemed fakes by a variety of hoax hunter websites including Snopes.com and Hoax-Slayer.com and yet millions and millions of people refuse to accept it.
Here is Howard’s alleged 2008 speech, and it is very similar to Gillard’s speech of 2010:
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.
Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation’s mosques. Quote: ‘IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.’
‘This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom’
‘We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!’
‘Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.’
‘We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.’
‘This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,
‘THE RIGHT TO LEAVE’.’
‘If you aren’t happy here then LEAVE. We didn’t force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.’
Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American and Canadian citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.
People are hungry for straight talk and tired of immigrants who refuse to become part of the culture, preferring instead to force their way of life upon their host country. This is the primary reason why this post, and all versions are so popular.

Too bad it turned out not to be true. For a while there I thought there was an undiscovered species of politicians that actually had functional cojones.
So some of us would like straight talk from our so-called leadership? Duh. Why shouldn’t we? I’m not about to be shamed out of expecting honesty. I’m afraid I’ve come to feel entitled to it, not least of all because those dealing with me seem to demand it. Their need isn’t any more than mine.
I feel those who come to our country should be welcomed as new arrivals, but I also feel those who would be disruptive and troublesome should not be. We have too many ethnic groups now who don’t seem able to leave their old-country wars behind (Serbs/Croats,Arabs/Jews etc). Either let it go as something you really wanted to escape or go on back and settle it there. I don’t want me or mine to be sucked into some conflict or even argument that no one has seen fit to end. After centuries no less. It’s kind of like getting drawn into a domestic dispute; it seems never-ending and you’re never sure you took the right side.
Who needs it? If you’re not through fighting the war, go on back and finish it. Over there. Please.
This is exactly what the right wing extremist would like to happen in this country. However, we do have this little thing called the Constitution that is supposed to protect the rights of everyone. Australia, on the other hand, also has 7 of the top ten deadliest snakes in the world, the largest and most active crocodiles in the world, the deadliest spider in the world, and the two deadliest box jelly fish in the world. You can have it sir, I will look at its beautiful places on post cards and not intrude on your Christian values or your culture. Also, that language you speak is only a vague representation of the English language. How’s that mate. Put ‘nother shrimp on ya barbie, n have a Foster’s on me.
This sounds like preacher Hagee’s speech to atheists. Don’t like Christianity he says, then leave the country. WTF
