Republican Gohmert: God Left Building in Colorado Shooting

Read Time:3 Minute, 25 Second

“The shooting could have been limited if someone else in the Aurora, Colo., movie theater had been carrying a gun”, Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert said today. Gohmert reacted to the shooting, which left 12 dead, during an interview this morning on the radio program Ernest Istook Live! From The Heritage Foundation.”

Anything over two firearms becomes a firefight. You have a crowded theater which is darkened for a movie. Someone starts shooting and let’s say everyone in the theater is packing heat. Everyone starts firing; not only at whomever started shooting but at each other.

Well it does make me wonder, you know, with all those people in the theater, was there nobody that was carrying that could’ve stopped this guy more quickly?” Gohmert said. “I mean in Tyler, Texas, we had–my hometown–we had a shooter come in over a domestic matter, and just start shooting people. And it was a guy with a concealed carry–he got killed, but his shooting at this guy caused him to run and no doubt saved a lot of lives. He was a real hero.”

One guy fired back and was wasted. That is what we said in Nam when you lost a buddy, he was wasted. Imagine a theater full of people carrying weapons.

“I know that before we ever had concealed carry in Texas, there was a, just a senseless shooting years ago in Killeen, Texas, in a restaurant, and, you know, if we had concealed carry permits at the time, there was a woman who had to leave her gun in her car, and if we’d had concealed carry the guy would’ve been stopped before he could’ve killed so many people,” Gohmert said.

Then, the clincher.

Radio host Ernest Istook asked Gohmert, a former judge, for his opinion on “the way that we have too many twisted minds in our society.” Gohmert blamed the deterioration of Judeo-Christian values, citing cases in which public expressions of religion have been stifled. “What really gets me as a Christian is to see the ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and then some senseless crazy act of terror like this takes place,” Gohmert said. “When people say, ‘You say there’s a God, where is god in all of this?’ Well, you know, we don’t let–in fact we’ve threatened high school graduation participants that if they use God’s name that they’re going to be jailed,” Gohmert said. “‘Where is God?’ Well, what have we done with God? We’ve told him we don’t want him around. And I kind of like his protective hand being present.”

God was brought into the scenario. Judeo-Christian values going down the tubes. Attack on Judeo-Christian beliefs. Threatening High School graduation participants with Jail if they use Gods name. This clown went from calling for more people to be armed to saying this was an attack on Christians.

Did this…this….(damn rules of conduct) GENTLEMAN (gag gag) forget his “God” has killed over a million people in the Bible? The “God” with the protective hand who condones rape so long as you pay for it.

More and more people are saying either saying God told them to (Zimmerman) or he abandoned us. This…this…(Rules of Conduct) says this was an attack on Christian Values. The shooting took place at a movie theater, not a Church. Instead of showing empathy, he is looking to place blame.

ABC said it was a Teabagger ( I was so hoping) but they retracted it, then someone said it was a registered Democrat (and the right says Democrats do not handle guns).

Who are all of these people and why are we in this hand basket?

The fact that Holmes was outfitted in body armor makes no difference, right Louie? Or that the average American is not trained to ignore adrenalin, aim and fire in stressful situations? Or that it was a dark movie theater, and some yahoo with a Glock could have easily hit the wrong person (think Arizona shooting when an armed man nearly shot someone who was actually trying to help). Yes, the answer to this tragedy is more guns and less liberals, because God has removed his protective hand from America. No you IDIOT, if (and that’s a big if) Sky Cat has removed his protective hand (paw) from America, it would most likely be because of the hate and stupidity coming from good old fashioned “Christians” like YOU, Louie.

Here’s what I put on FaceBook; “One guy killed 12 people. If every yahoo in Colorado started shooting, it would have looked like Gettysburg.” I think that’s the point you’re making.

And then of course, there’s the religion.

[…] for the GOP to apologize for blaming America cause they said we were not a Christian nation https://madmikesamerica.com/2012/07/r…rado-shooting/ Why is it you struggle so to stay on topic? He didn't blame any group, so stop your flame […]

“If someone else had been carrying a gun !” WTF That’s the stupidest comment, next to “God left the building for a pee.” that I’ve ever heard. But, then again, what do you expect from the John Wayne ideology of days gone by that guns solve all your problems. GOP actually stands for “Godam Outright Pricks”.
