The GOP: Sex, Taxes and Firearms

Read Time:5 Minute, 4 Second

Just when I thought it could not get any worse, it has.

Ann Coulter, the wanna be wicked witch of the GOP claims the Fast and Furious program is:

THE BIGGEST SCANDAL IN U.S. HISTORY

Bigger than Watergate, Bigger than Bill Clinton getting oral sex from Monica Lewinsky, Bigger than Iran-Contra!

“Administration officials intentionally put guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels, so that when the guns taken from Mexican crime scenes turned out to be American guns, Democrats would have a reason to crack down on gun sellers in the United States. Democrats will never stop trying to take our guns away. They see something more lethal than a salad shooter and wet themselves.” she writes. Further down her article she writes, “ (Contrary to more Democrat lies, there was no program to dump thousands of guns in Mexico under George W. Bush. The Bush administration did have a program that put GPS trackers on about 100 guns in order to actually trace them. That operation was ended almost as soon as it began because of the lack of cooperation from Mexican officials. You may as well say Holder’s program was “started” by the first cop who ever put tracer dye on contraband.)

Does she not realize the Drug cartels did not get to be powerful by being sloppy? 100 guns with tracking devices. The Cartels would more than likely inspect these weapons to make sure they could not be traced.

The main point she is trying to make is the Government is trying to prevent people from buying guns., Representative Issa says the whole “Fast and Furious” program was a ruse to give the Government an excuse to take away everyone’s guns. First off, there is no legal way the Government can seize the firearms of  law-abiding citizens. It would take the overturning of the second amendment to do that. As anyone knows, to add or take away from the Constitution literally takes an act of Congress. Congress is in no mood for an armed uprising.

Speaking of Congress, it appears the Conservatives have waged an all out war on women. Why? The Christian Right has gained control of the GOP. The Christian Right wants to bring God into everyday life and they will not budge one iota. They cite the bible, pick and choose passages to back up their claims, hoping the majority of Christians only know parts of the Bible from Sunday School. They cite abortion is wrong and women should have children no matter what the conditions were for conception. They harp on homosexuality being a sin and spreading lies that people are recruited into the Gay lifestyle.

Americans have always been uptight about sex and Conservatives play on this. Sex is dirty and should be only used to procreate. State laws go as far as to say what position is legal, if the lights are to be on, and what consenting partners are allowed to do (in Virginia, oral sex is illegal). Conservatives want to block contraceptives by teaching abstinence. Abstinence has failed time and time again.

Taxes. The GOP hates Taxes to the point a Neanderthal named Grover Norquist has the GOP scrotum in a vice. He says he wants the Government so small he can drown it in a bathtub. The word is taxes are bad, the Government is too big and too restrictive. Big Business wants a smaller Government as a crook wants fewer cops. The Government steps in only when the Private sector fails to protect its workers or the public at large. The aim of the Private Sector is to make as much money as it can with the fewest restrictions possible. Mines are one example of trying to get the maximum amount of profit with the least amount of outlay. They are allergic to the safety reforms the Bureau of Mines implemented such as breathing apparatus for emergencies.

Airlines do not like the FAA for their aircraft have to be certified as flight worthy. Airports need state of the art lighting and equipment to deal with emergencies. The SEC oversees the trading of stocks and bonds. The Interior Department oversees the millions of acres of forests and is generally loathe to allow development on their lands. Ron Paul wanted to do away with the Interior Department for he felt the lands set aside as National Parks could be sold off for their Minerals and Oil. He felt the Government could get more money by selling these lands off to Developers.

The GOP used to be known as fiscal Conservatives. They were loath to spend money recklessly, but now they have taken another tack. They feel by cutting taxes, giving tax breaks to Corporations and the wealthy, jobs will be created, the deficit reduced and everything will be hunky Dorey.  They are saying many things the Government provides should be privatized for business knows how to run these things better than the Government. Social Security should be integrated into the Stock Market and people should choose how to invest their money. Medicare should be turned into vouchers and people choose what insurance they want. Parents should also receive vouchers to get their children out of Public Schools and into Private Schools. Fire Departments, Police Departments and such should not be controlled by Governments.

With a scenario such as that, a Corporate run Emergency Services, with no oversight, could choose who got services and who didn’t. We know how the Stock Market sometimes “crashes” and the risk of losing everything you invested is a specter no one thinks about. With the loss of parks, no one could enjoy the natural beauty Theodore Roosevelt established. Privates schools will teach what their Corporate or Religious Masters tell them to teach.

Is this what we want? No. We want a strong, responsible Government which will not roll over to Corporate whims.
