Boiled Body Chef Found Guilty
There are times when some people take their talents to an extreme. Take, for example, Chef David Viens who suspected that his wife, Dawn, was stealing money from his restaurant. She denied it and a struggled ensued during which he pushed her to floor and covered her mouth with duct tape. Apparently, overnight she died, and he put his talents as a chef to good use;
In a recorded interrogation presented by prosecutors during the trial, Viens, 49, can be heard saying he cooked the body of his 39-year-old wife, Dawn, in late 2009 until little was left but her skull.
The chef spoke to authorities from a hospital bed in March 2011 after leaping off an 80-foot cliff in Rancho Palos Verdes. Authorities say he jumped after learning he was a suspect in her disappearance.
The trial relied heavily on recorded interviews with authorities in which the chef acknowledged the crime in detail.
“I just slowly cooked it and I ended up cooking her for four days,” Viens could be heard saying on the recording.
Viens, who attended his trial in a wheelchair, said in the interview that he stuffed his wife’s body in a 55-gallon drum of boiling water and kept it submerged with weights.
He said he mixed what remained after four days with other waste, dumping some of it in a grease pit at his restaurant in Lomita, and putting the rest in the trash.
He said he stashed his wife’s skull in his mother’s attic in Torrance. But a search of the house turned up nothing, nor did an excavation of the restaurant.
There are times when the obviously temperamental chef should have kept his cool. It seems that the possible 15 years to life in prison is a bit more expensive than a divorce would have been.

I love this collaboration Bill, and hope to see more of it. Can you believe there are people like this in the world, and worse?
Can I believe it? Sure. But I hang out with murderers for all the time and I teach other people how to do the same thing. One the guys I worked with killed his wheel chair bound great uncle by hitting in the head with a two by four and throwing in the edge of a swamp to drown for $20 and his car. He then went to a little store and shot a guy for four “Honey Buns.” His biggest concern was that his momma would find out what he had done.
If these people would just keep their mouths shut most of them would get a pass. Their whining and big mouthing gets them convicted.
Good point Anonymous. Of course probably in the case this guy kind of gave himself away. The police always look at the spouse when someone goes missing and when the spouse jumps off a cliff it is somewhat of a “dead” giveaway.
This case is bizarre beyond bizarre. These people have to be sick in the head.
I don’t Lee, how would you get rid of the body? 🙂 Just kidding.
Now this is what I call an evil guy. Did you ever wonder what motivates seemingly successful people to do such things?
Nah, I know why.
OMG…at least he didn’t mix her remains with pulled pork sandwiches! 🙂
Well, at least then her body would have gone to someone’s nourishment as long as they never new the difference. It would also cut down on his food cost. 🙂 This guy was definitely two clicks over the sicko line.
