I think the children are becoming more sophisticated about playing electronic games. I have personally seen the things in the pictures.

I agree with Bill. Genuine thinking seems to have declined. I blame that more upon teaching methods than anything else. Teachers are evaluated upon how students do on tests that are likely to have ;little to do with real education and more upon regurgitating “approved” answers.

While some will be smarter about some things I fear we are losing the great thinkers. Those who take the time to read, to think about the condition of mankind, to understand the why’s of the world without looking it up on Google. Students are judged by standardize tests, and speed reading, not by the depth of their thoughts.

I think, if Einstein was alive today, he might change his mind. I just spent a few days with my 5 year old grandson who knows more about my IPhone than I do. One game he loves, encourages critical thinking by challenging the player to change water from steam to ice and then back to water to move through life saving mazes. I couldn’t do it for one minute. His kindergarten teacher says they are changing curriculum because kids are smarter as a result of the technology.

Technology is the ultimate blessing-and-curse. Ironically, the very phone that infuriates my partner when we’re together provides the very lifeline that keeps our relationship thriving while we’re apart. Long distance relationships are hard enough; I love that we’re able to share random snapshots of one another’s day, and have a constant connection when we need it most. I suspect he agrees, and there’s a distinct bit of irony in his occasional lack of understanding that I can’t text with him throughout business meetings, even as it annoys him when I take the time to check the weather on my phone during a lull in the conversation while he and I are driving to a movie. For what it’s worth, though, I’d prefer a life where technology is not required to stay close to those I love, allowing me to “disconnect” entirely. Technology is a fine convenience, but nothing compared to being close to family, or being able to look up and see the man that I love within my reach.

Didn’t he also say, The two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and human stupidity.”?
