An Open Letter to Wayne LaPierre

Read Time:3 Minute, 2 Second

I don’t know any other way to say it, so I’m just going to say it: you, Wayne LaPierre, are a complete and utter scumbag.

On Friday, December 14th, twenty-six people were murdered in a senseless act of gun violence perpetrated by a homicidal maniac. That day, as the country mourned their loss, you and your organization had uncharacteristically nothing to say about it. After three days, the only thing that you did come out and say is that you had ‘no comment’. Now, barely a week after those deaths, you have the audacity to hold that sham of a press conference and say that you want to put even MORE guns in our schools?

Not only are you a fucking fool- you’re a monster.

I honestly have no idea how you can sleep at night. Every single thing you said at that podium wasn’t just a slap in the face of the folks who died in Newtown, not to mention their families, but you spit on their memories, as well. In case nobody told you, twenty children died that day.

Let me repeat that so you don’t forget it: TWENTY CHILDREN. They were killed with a semi-automatic assault rifle, a Bushmaster .223, something that isn’t used for home defense, isn’t used to hunt with- IT HAS NO OTHER PURPOSE BUT TO END LIVES. And believe me, it did its job VERY well.

Do me a favor- spare me the bullshit about your precious second amendment rights. I know perfectly well what they say. You and your organization have the right to own handguns and rifles for your own defense, I grant you that, but why do you need assault rifles and guns with extended ammo clips?  Are you people lousy shots? Are you not secure in your manhood? Because I have to say, it sure doesn’t seem like you have any balls to me.

If anything, I’m calling you and every single member of your organization a fucking coward. You want to know how I know this? Even if you read my words, you’ll never respond to them. Hell, I’ll bet you don’t even have the nerve to defend your gun rights to the families of Newtown. I DARE you to do so.

Mr. LaPierre, you had the chance to do the honorable thing. You had the chance to stand up and say, “We are sorry for what happened and want this bloodshed to end as much as you do.”

But you couldn’t do that, could you? And we all know why- it’s because you chose to put a fast buck ahead of the lives of children. And that’s just sad. Sad and fucking pathetic. I won’t say, “Shame on you, Mr. LaPierre!” Because you don’t have any.

You need to have a soul in order to feel shame.

Gregory B. Gonzalez

ED: On December 24, 2012, four firefighters were shot at, and two were killed while responding to a fire in Webster, NY.  The killer, an ex-convict who murdered his grandmother and was released on parole after serving time, used a .223 Bushmaster, the same assault rifle employed in the Newtown shootings.  No doubt Wayne LaPierre, the most despicable man in America, would now recommend that each parolee forever be provided with an armed escort, as opposed to banning such weapons….MJS

Greg I agree with you in every sense, and unfortunately your words ring true. Good job in every sense, and now that I’m back I’ll look forward to reading your next submission.

I suppose now you will make the argument that simply because so called assault rifles were used in two shootings back to back there is even more reason to ban them. Do your research idiots: both Newtown and Webster shootings happened because mentally ill people had the guns. We need to stop the nuts from getting them, not banning them. It’s like saying we need to ban cars because a few idiots drive drunk. Come on Mr. Formby, or should I say Mr. Experience, get back to me on that one. Marine. Figures.

I don’t really think you’re paying attention to the conversation Mr. Winchester, and you’re well named, but the whole point of the conversation, my conversation at least, is to take the guns out of the hands of the crazies, which won’t be possible so as to prevent the deaths of more innocents we’ll have to ban guns. Now, maybe your conservative brain can get a grasp on that? Not? Not surprised!

Winchester, Its Dr. Formby to you, I don’t really understand why civilians need assault type weapons available to them anyway. They are not much use for hunting compared to what is available for hunting purposes. The AK 47 or AR 15 type weapons never been made accessible to civilians neither would have been used in either of the incidents you mentioned.
I have not mentioned once that we need to remove weapons from the hands of reliable Americans in violations of their rights. I do think that every gun owner should be held responsible for every gun they purchase however. This means that if you own a gun and you kid, or the kid next door, steals it and kills someone you should shoulder some of the liability if you have not taken precautions with a gun safe or trigger locks; or, if you sell a gun privately there should be a way that the new owner can be held liable for the use of that gun. A major reason that there are guns floating around everywhere is the resistance of the gun lobbyists of having guns registered on the premise that the government will know where all the guns are and can come confiscate them. In your example, we require that everyone register their cars and insure them in case their are accidents and to insure that everyone who drives them are licensed. It isn’t a perfect system, but it works pretty well. Try driving around in an unlicensed car. Try leaving your car keys around and letting you 12 year old kid get them and go for a joy ride and kill a couple of people in the process. Don’t laugh, it happens, and the states take a dim view of the negligence there. BUT, it is the same old song with gun owners when ask then to collectively to take responsibility for their gun ownership. Wah Wah, you are tramping on my rights… well you know what Winchester, there is an old saying about rights. Your rights end, where my rights begin. So somewhere in the middle (as in public) there has to be a compromise. In my life I have seen enough bodies torn to pieces by projectiles from various types of guns from 20mm cannons to .22 caliber pistols. If I never see another one it will be way too damn soon.

Actually, AWinchester76, if you had done YOUR research, you would know that James Holmes (The DARK KNIGHT shooter) and Jared Loffner (The Gifford shooter) purchased the weapons they used LEGALLY. The only idiot on this page is YOU, not us!

@Bill- I could not have said it any better. And it’s like I always say- It’s always best to get advice from the experts. Owning a pistol for home defense is one thing, but you don’t need an assault rifle to defend your home. The second amendment allows you the right to bear arms, so what are you gonna do next, buy an RPG to defend yourself? How about a tactical nuke? After all, the Constitution doesn’t say you can’t have them. Where does your right to bear arms end? How many people have die for it? How much blood needs to be spilled? Tell you what, give me an amount and then we can go from there.

This is the time for strong voices or we will lose our guns. I went and bought two AR’s Monday, along with 1K rounds of ammo, and two extended magazines (only the uninformed call them clips anymore) because I know Obama is “gunning” for them, so I needed to be one step ahead of him. Now, that being said, I’m no fan of LaPierre, but am a fan of the NRA. Our constitution says we can all have guns, so we should all have guns. Our constitution says we have the right to free speech so we should all have that right. What’s the difference? Come on people! You are all liberal “rose-colored glasses” mouth breathers over here so it won’t matter what I say, but what I say is Power to the People. And Mr. Bill before you accuse me of being uneducated know I hold a doctorate in history from Cambridge, along with a few other scattered honorariums so I can make a reasonable argument any day, when it’s not colored by extreme politics.

@Awinchester- It seems to me that you’re more of a paranoid coward than anything else. If you were as educated as you seem to think you are, then you wouldn’t have to go out of your way to say so. Tell you what, why don’t you hide out in your bunker for the next four years of Obama’s administration, and we’ll have somebody knock on your door to let you know it’s over, okay? Dick!

@ AWinchester76 – I wish you would put your worthless PhD to work then and think. I also hold a PhD and honorariums for what they are worth plus a hell of a lot of experience that you probably don’t have including an honorable stint as a U.S. Marine, six years as a street cop, and over forty years of studying crime and violence in America. I have worked on four national research projects involving law enforcement and have spent more than twenty five years studying homicide offenders including serial offenders up close and personal. Now that the pissing contest is over I will say the same thing to you that I said to the other idiot, neither of you have any idea what you are talking about. Yes, the second Amendment says you can have guns, and that was not even questioned by the article if you even read it. Instead you just jumped like an illiterate baboon into the gun toting tirade like every redneck I know. That it is not the point. The point whether you want to turn the country into the 1800’s old west society again or do you want to live in a civilized society. If you are an historian as you claim you, of all people, should understand what I am saying. Are you tired of being able to walk down the street with you family without a gunfight breaking out and possibly injuring or killing members of your family because this is what you are asking for the way you and others are going. Everyone living in fortress type houses, fearful of stepping out with being hit by a stray bullet. Every neighborhood a war zone.
You and other gun people continue to argue argue the “only criminals” will have guns idiocy. As I pointed out earlier more than half of all violent deaths by guns come from friends and family, not by strangers – criminals. The vast majority of “criminals” are petty thieves and property criminals. Most of the people you are frightened of are not criminals they are YOUR undesirables – yes the poor whom you choose not to associate with who live in projects and poverty stricken areas but many of whom have never committed a crime in their lives. You, from the context of you post, I am presuming to be the most dangerous among us. Not the ignorant, but like Wayne LaPierre, just plain stupid.

@dinomite – Are you really that stupid, really. I mean really. Did you even read the damn post. There was nothing, I reapeat, NOTHING, in that post that said anything about restricting your second Amendment rights. While I doubt that you have even read the second Amendment, or have idea of its true purpose or intent at the time it was written, it says nothing about about allowing you to own specific types of weapons. As far as guns and criminals are concerned, they are not the major problem idiot. We could actually reduce the death toll by firearms, literally, by taking guns away from everyone that we know have guns. Family and friends kill each other more than strangers kill other strangers do. Most fire arm murders, suicides, and accidental killings are by legally purchased and owned firearms, more specifically handguns. The only reason people like you need a gun is because of you fear of facing life without an extended penis. So get off your damn rant until you know what you are talking about.

@Dinomite- You’re a SERIOUS idiot. A: I never said anything about taking away your detachable penis in the article. B: People with a double-digit IQ (such as yourself) shouldn’t have access to guns. C: If, as Bill said, you had actually read the second amendment , you’d see that the right to bear arms shall not be infringed so that the country could have a well-armed militia at the ready should it become necessary. The founding fathers never intended for people to walk around with an arsenal strapped to their ass. They also never thought that weapons would never progress beyond the level of a musket. If they had, they never would have written it.

And finally, Fuck ME? Hey, buddy- Do you read lips? Fuck YOU!

Thanks, Bailey55! I only wish I had the opportunity to say it to his face. But I’m not deserving of your praise. The one who deserves it more is the father who stood up and interrupted the press conference and got ‘escorted’ out. That guy is my hero!
