Hobby Lobby: Won’t Cover Contraception Clause of ObamaCare

Read Time:1 Minute, 16 Second

The religious crazies are at it again, this time in the form of a company called the “Hobby Lobby.”  After being turned down by the supreme court they plan on seeking relief from the contraception clause of ObamaCare.

(Newser) With a lawsuit pending, Hobby Lobby says it won’t be providing workers with health plans that cover the morning-after pill—even though ObamaCare requires it. The decision could cost the company $1.3 million in daily fines, the AP notes. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor this week rejected the arts and crafts chain’s request for an injunction against that part of the health law.

She says the store hasn’t made an adequate case for an emergency exemption, but added that it and sister firm Mardel can still fight the measure in lower courts. In the meantime, “the company will continue to provide health insurance to all qualified employees,” a lawyer for Hobby Lobby says, but it won’t “pay for abortion-inducing drugs.” The company holds that the morning-after pill is tantamount to abortion due to its ability to keep a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus.

Wonder if they will cover boner pills for the men to use. Seems to me, that would be a no no, because if your god wanted you to have morning wood, he wouldn’t make men limpy mcflaccid’s when they reach a certain age. Oh and don’t bother telling me that ED pills do much more than just give men a stiffy. Slut pills help regulate periods and various different things for the wimmin of the world also too you betcha.

I agree, but what else is there to say? That religions should stop building “Crystal Cathedrals” and do more as Jesus was supposed to have said, sell everything and give it to the poor? That will happen, sure. Riiiiiggghhhtt!

Thanks for the feedback.

Very recently, I read that, if religions in the USA were taxed like any other business, it would contribute $71 billion dollars a year to the national treasury. That would pay for a lot of healthcare and education; far more than all of the religions combined do now.

Never a fan of Jesus, I agree with you on this one James. Well said by the way.

As always, the religious reich believes that the laws and conventions for everyone else cannot apply to them. Be it taxes, common decency, or health care. They do not want to be equal or have religious freedom, they want to be above all of that. They must be exempt from social responsibility.
