The GPS isn’t perfect.  It can take you down the wrong road, a road under construction, or to a road that no longer exists.  Your address can be in the middle of a lake, or the desert.  While these errors aren’t common they do happen, as the technology isn’t perfect.  Unfortunately, this flawed technology was deadly for a poor guy in Georgia, as state where everyone owns a gun, and most shoot first and ask questions later.

GPS GPS Error Costs Man His Life

There are wacky GPS mistakes and then there are tragic ones. A Lilburn, Georgia man died after being shot in the head Saturday night after his GPS reportedly directed him to the wrong house. WSBTV reports that Rodrigo Abad Diaz, 22, was driving three passengers to a friend’s house, where they were to pick up a girl before going ice skating. Friends say the GPS sent Diaz to the home of Phillip Walker Sailors. As they waited in the driveway, the 69-year-old came out of the house, went back in, then returned, toting a handgun, which he fired into the air.

They quickly tried to leave, but Sailors fired at the car, hitting Diaz on the left side of his head, and then trained his gun on the passengers, holding the three high school students until police arrived. Sailors’ lawyers says the war vet “is very distraught over the loss of life from the defense of his home. This incident happened late in the evening hours when he was home with his wife and he assumed it was a home invasion and he maintains his innocence.” But one of the passengers says Sailors never asked why they were there. “‘Shut up.’ That’s the only thing that came out of his mouth.”

Wayne LaPierre will be pleased that this guy exercised his 2d Amendment rights and blew away an innocent kid. NRA fuckers.

People often look for an excuse to “blow someone away” to prove they are tough and dangerous. At least they are half right. These are precisely the type of people I would deny a license to ever own any firearm.

I don’t know about Georgia, but in most places where I have lived he would be guilty of a felony. How could he show he felt his life was in danger? No one ever got out of the car. How could they have looked dangerous to him?

He was arrested apparently, and is in jail at the moment. He was charged with murder.

Rightly so. As for the GPS error, when on a ship at sea, a watch is to be kept at all times GPS, autopilot, or not. None of those will be aware of traffic, semi-submerged containers, islands, reefs, or other hazards. At least you don’t often have to be concerned about idiots with shotguns.

I have never felt so safe as when I was doing a boat delivery.

That’s why I don’t trust gun lovers. Most all of them are just looking for any excuse to prove that their love is justified.

I totally agree, Bill. If the gun is there, they intend to use it…..someday.

Shoot first; ask questions later! It’s the NRA way!
Seriously, it’s not exactly like we live in Afghanistan, Somalia, or Syria! We live in the -ing United States of America! We have the “right” to bear arms, but we don’t have the “right” to shoot (And possibly kill) everything that moves!! I’m disgusted!
