Yep, you read that right. Coca Cola has now become a killer, a cold, merciless killer, at least according to coroner David Crerar of Wellington, New Zealand. Crerar included in his final report that Coca Cola contributed to a heart attack that killed the 31 year mother of eight year old Natasha Harris, by creating metabolic imbalances due to her consuming too much of the soda. He further stated that it was a “substantial factor” in her death. I don’t mean to make light of this lady’s death but her consumption of too much coke included two gallons a day. That’s 256 ounces,4 2 liter cokes, or 12 1/2 20 ounce cokes every day.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — A New Zealand food industry association on Wednesday rejected a coroner’s call to add health warnings to soft-drink labels following the 2010 death of a woman who drank about 2 gallons of Coca-Cola a day.

Coroner David Crerar issued a final report Tuesday into the death of 31-year-old Natasha Harris, concluding that the mother of eight died from a heart attack. He said the large amount of Coca-Cola she drank likely led to metabolic imbalances that gave rise to her heart problems, adding that Coke was likely a “substantial factor” in her death.

But New Zealand Food & Grocery Council Chief Executive Katherine Rich said “there isn’t a labeling regime in the world” that could have prevented the death of somebody who chose to drink Coke in such large quantities.

The New Zealand branch of the Atlanta-based Coca-Cola Company, the world’s largest beverage maker, disputed the coroner’s findings, noting that experts could not agree on the most likely cause of Harris’ death.

Crerar recommended that soft-drink makers consider including caffeine levels on the labels and warnings about the ill health effects if the drinks are consumed in excessive quantities.

Was she a 31-year-old mother of an 8-year old, or a 31-year-old mother of 8?

If you have more than 2 kids you need to get a caffeine high! Plus, you’ll need 3 jobs, minimum, to get them through College. Anyone who has 8 kids needs to run away and have their head checked out!

Well, I hear that there isn’t that much to do in New Zealand Rick.

31 year old mother of 8 children. Sorry for the mistake. Well she was before she died.

OMG 31 mother of 8, that right there should have killed her long before the stupidity of drinking that much crap in a can. I’m 31 and cannot imagine being an octomom. Apparently moderation is not known to some people.

Jess, with many I would have though she would have been drinking something other than coke. Maybe vodka, scotch, or whiskey. :)

Exactly. Using the uterus as a clown car, is really a very bad idea.
