eHarmony Founder Wants to ‘Fix’ Gays

Read Time:3 Minute, 0 Second

Dr. Neil Clark Warren, a psychologist, conservative christian theologian and noted co-founder of eHarmony, recently said in an interview with Yahoo.com: “I have said that eHarmony really ought to put up $10 million and ask other companies to put up money and do a really first class job of figuring out homosexuality.  At the very best, it’s been a painful way for a lot of people to have to live.”

This phrase, ‘figuring out homosexuality’ really reeks of willful misunderstanding and a deep seated hatred that goes to the heart of an issue which Dr. Warren admitted has damaged his dating business. The issue is these people who are so damaged by their own vehement hatred for gay people that they think gays people are themselves defective.

The fact that they think there is something to ‘fix’ means they think there is something broken, something sinful, something evil that must be eradicated, lest they fail in their religious right, to exorcise… or failing that, ostracize those wretched souls from the circle of the ‘saved’… those approaching heaven’s gates.

He is correct in thinking that the amount of pain that those like-minded, hating groups [who think as he does,] inflict on gay people make it overwhelmingly painful for some to carry on…this apparently does not cause him enough concern to try to see the other side of the coin. Instead, he insists that there is something defective about gay people that he needs to throw 10 million dollars at, to fix.

” It has really damaged our company and when the attorney general of the state of New Jersey decided that we had to put up a same-sex site and we did it out of counsel that if we didn’t do it we were not going to have any business in New Jersey — we literally had to hire guards to protect our lives because the people were so hurt and angry with us, were Christian people, who feel that it’s a violation to scripture. ” he said.

I for one am happy to see that his hatred and disdain for gay people has damaged his ability to make more of that most evil of things…money. In his interview, he admitted in my opinion, that he was forced [against his religious principles of hating/needing to fix gay people,] to start another dating site oriented to gay partners.

For a man who admits that he loves to gamble, apparently making that money in New Jersey is too delicious to pass up. He obviously did not start that other dating site without the threat of being shut out of the New Jersey market, making this a clear cut case as to where his loyalties lie… and money seems to come out ahead of compassion, or the willingness to truly understand human nature and the fact that being born gay is not something that religion can ‘fix’ later in one’s life.

The well known dating site has had to answer to multiple legal suits for their foolish point of view as documented here and with the heinous belief that gay people are somehow defective.  No doubt they will have some more to contend with in the future. Warren described himself as a follower of Jesus but I think he has not asked himself  ‘What would Jesus do?’ I’m sure the answer will surprise and disgust him.

Doesn’t all that Christianisty love just make your heart beat a little faster? Yeah didn’t think so. Why fix what isn’t broken in the first place and just accept all of our fabulous differences. All the time, it’s the poor poor persecuted Christians, while they are beating up on the LGBT community on a daily, if not hourly basis. Oh and if as a straight person all they are thinking about is gay sex and how it’s icky, newsflash you have more issues than you are admitting to. I am certain he could use that same 10 million large and donate it to causes that are actually helping the LGBT community deal with all the hate directed to them, but that is way too logical for idiots like this to comprehend.

Or perhaps that 10 million could help feed some of the 27,000 children around the world that are dieing of malnutrition and starvation at any given time. Those would be the same children that their god chooses to ignore wile “blessing” their homophobic, hate-filled minds.

It’s bad enough we have to listen to commercials about ChristianMingle.com but I wasn’t aware eHarmony was another bigoted, hypocritical institution trying to segregate and divide people into its own delusional way of thinking. To think, people really buy into this bullshit, religious, mythical crap. I guess the fanatical xians will continue buying into the “BUYBULL”.

Some one get a hold og him and introduce him to me and tell him to have me sign up for reparative therapy & I wil fake being straight if I can do commercial’s & go on tour, etc, for a cost. I will state I am straight and left the sick world of being a fag behind, Oh yeah, in Jesus Christ our name amen.

Wil, are you saying the lying to advance your agenda or to make money is OK? If so, that sounds suspiciously like the people you are opposing.

I do think your idea has some merit. Having someone go through their program and honestly and objectively report on the procedures and effectiveness of it would be very interesting. I don;t think either of us would be a proper candidate for that role. Me, for not being gay and you for apparently having no qualms about being untruthful.

Several people have done just this. Truth Wins Out sent someone to different “ex gay” therapy sessions and have reported on it.

I’m glad to hear some one was smarter than I and smarter sooner.

Now wait-a-minute. Where in the Bible does it say it’s OK to hang out in virtual meat markets and pick up 40 year old chicks? Me thinks me smells a double standard.

Do you mean as, “Do as I say, not as I do?” That seems to be pretty common in the religious reich homophobes. It seems that so many of them have been caught with their heterosexuality down that the instance of being homosexual among them is greater than in the general population.

Could this be the “reaction Formation” we have seen reported before? As below:

This is classical “reaction formation” from Freudian psychoanalysis. The people most threatened by homosexuality are the ones who are reacting to what they hate most in themselves.

For the rest of us who are not gay, we might be appalled when we are hit on by someone of the same sex, otherwise it just doesn’t matter. This is why I support gay rights – I am comfortable in my heterosexuality and don’t view gay people as threats to me or mine. People are people. Who they sleep with is not my business if the act is between consenting adults.

It’s not willful misunderstanding, it’s willful ignorance on the part of his followers. On his part, it’s a coldly calculated method of extracting money from the deluded and gullible.

What we really need is an objective scientific study on what makes people so eager to accept what is painfully myths and lies with no observable benefit to anyone but the promoters of ignorance and hate.
