I Wonder if John Lennon Imagined This

I saw a You Tube video of John Lennon singing his “Imagine”  that I hadn’t seen before yesterday.  About a minute into it instead of singing the line “and no religion too” John substituted the word “immigration.”  John was having troubles with U.S. authorities at the time who wanted him deported as an undesirable.   God forbid some Limey tell us good Americans war is not good and living up to the words on the Statue of Liberty is a worthy ideal.   Some guy in a tuxedo in the front row looked down and shook his head after John sang “and no immigration too.”

You’d think after damn near 40 years the immigration subject would have been settled.  But still, simple minded fools shake their heads and demand fences be built and illegals be dumped in the Mexican desert rather than embrace the fact that we’re a nation of immigrants and to keep them out and run off the ones that are here is detrimental to our Nation’s future.

Lennon also sang and talked of things like guns.  He didn’t like them.  He was shot dead by a nut.   President Gerald Ford was shot by a nut.   How a Manson family member named “Squeeky” got ahold of a gun is beyond me.  Yet Wayne LaPierre would rather have his guns pried from his cold dead hands than see anyone that wanted a gun be inconvenienced  by a background check.  The honest people can keep an eye on the kooks with guns I guess.   Or the Secret Service.   Ronald Reagan was shot by another nut along with James Brady.    Not enough honest gun carriers around that day perhaps.  Or maybe there were but they were busy with things like working or having lunch or running errands or taking the kids to school.   Unless the lazy bastards were listing to a commie peacenik like John Lennon on the radio. No excuse for that when honest gun toters should be keeping their eyes open for kooks with guns aimed at presidents and children.

I wonder if John Lennon imagined a guy like Marco Rubio.  What a story. Son of immigrants that worked hard.  Became a senator.  Champion of the people.  The people that want to continue the reign of hate speech and bullshit anyway.  He’s living the real American dream.  Find a bloc and tell them whatever they want to hear.  They hate Obama so tell them lack of immigration reform is Obama’s fault.  A plan is not necessary from Rubio or any republican.

Guns are here to stay whether the people or John Lennon like it or not.  Immigration reform?  Perhaps. But the immigrants must make sure they want to come here for the freedom to own as many and whatever kind of gun they want.  We sure don’t want a bunch of pacifist, unarmed commies walking around after all.
