It’s clear that the republicans care nothing about middle class America, and everything about preserving the wealth of their fat cat sponsors. The sequestration, happening now, will affect the entire nation, not just federal employees and the military, because there will be a trickle effect, and the economy will not grow as it could have, and unemployment will not go down as it should have; on the contrary, the president predicts over $750,000 jobs will be lost.
As to our duly elected representatives, democrats and republicans alike, they are headed to their limousines and the airport, secure in the knowledge that their jobs are not at risk, only those of thousands of nameless, faceless people for whom they have no care.
When pressed by reporters as to what more the president might have done to prevent this drastic spending cut, his answer was straightforward, as he made it clear he can’t force reluctant lawmakers to either stay in Washington, or vote the way he wants them to vote. Using a Star Wars example, he told the assembled press that he can’t do a Jedi Mind Meld to force opponents to the tax cuts to toe his line.
Can you imagine a George Bush or a Ronald Regan referring to Star Wars in a speech or press conference?
The president’s closing remarks left no doubt as to how he really felt by saying that what the congress has done is “dumb,” and hopefully they will come to their senses in the months to come.

Even the Jedi can’t do that. It’s a VULCAN mind meld Mr. President.

So he is dividing the country even more with the separation of Trekkies and Star Wars fans. Is there no depth to his inhumanity my god, it is Greek tragedy worthy. Oh and here is where my inner nerdorkeek comes out, Jedi meld is where many of the force can join their minds telepathically to become stronger as a unit. Kind of like the Wonder Twins, except the twins have to touch to be powerful where the ancient Jedi don’t. Yes you are very welcome.

LOL Jess. What next? Taking wolves off the endangered species list, or suggesting getting rid of the whaling embargo? Oh wait…

What congress has done is dumb? Did it take a Harvard degree to figure that out?

We need a spending freeze across the board. We should only maintain essential spending. After all, if it’s not essential, why are we spending money on it? Our children are getting further in debt before they are even born…

A spending freeze would mean no infrastructure repair, such as roads and bridges. No ability to maintain national parks, the military, education, medical research, social security, medicare, medicaid, and far too many more services to count. Since I pay taxes I want to get a bang for my buck. I want the government to do things for me….Yep. I am a fan of socialism. Capitalism hasn’t done a lot for us lately. Just sayin’
