‘You Gotta Thank the Lord’ CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Tells Atheist Tornado Survivor

Read Time:37 Second

The number of atheists continues to rise, but CNN’s Wolf Blitzer may have forgotten that on Tuesday afternoon, as he learned the danger of assuming on live television that his interviewee is a Christian.

“I guess, you gotta thank the Lord, right?” he told the survivor of a deadly tornado that ripped through Oklahoma. “Do you thank the Lord?”

“I — I’m actually an atheist,” the woman politely responded.

“Oh, you are? Alright,” Blitzer replied.

The woman, however, handled the embarrassing situation with grace.

“We are here, and I don’t blame anybody for thanking the Lord,” she told Blitzer.

Why do people not thank, or curse, Mother Nature? Just wondering.

Mother Nature ROCKS! – and she’ll get rid of us soon enough if we don’t start behaving 😉

Even the Dinosaurs didn’t last as long as us and all they did was wander about chomping vegetation and, occasionally, each other. Dinosaurs didn’t fuck up the enviroment so what chance us eh?

I would have told Blitzhead, “No, I thank The Flying Spaghetti Monster” at least he’s a modern, invisible, imaginary, non-existent god.” But, I wouldn’t thank any god for the death and destruction caused by the tornadoes. Sheer luck and chance are what allowed people to survive.

James you are so right. I thought Wolf handled it well, as did the survivor. Cute kid too, and I’m not a big fan of kids 🙂

She and Blitzer both showed more class than Pat Robertson or Bill O’Reilly would have.
