Pat Robertson: Boy Scouts Destroyed by Gays Who Want To Have Sex

Earlier this year, televangelist Pat Robertson claimed that the Boy Scouts of America would be opening the door to “predators” and “pedophiles” if the organization ended its ban on gay members.
Following the BSA’s decision to lift its ban on openly gay youth, Robertson on the 700 Club today said that it is a “terrible shame” that a “tiny minority” is “willing to rip apart the framework of traditional marriage; to rip apart an organization that has done so much good for young people, the Boy Scouts; to rip apart certain of these other things that we have counted as important in our society; all for one thing: that the way they do sex will be accepted in the mainstream of society.”
“Two percent deciding what the rest of us does,” Robertson warned, “and they are willing to destroy it. Hollywood and the so-called liberal media has jumped on board that this is the new civil rights, well I don’t think so.”
He went on to say that it “breaks your heart” to see the Boy Scouts “torn up in order to accommodate a few kids who want to do sex with each other. It just boggles the mind.”

Why do some idiots insist on relating ‘gay’ to ‘pedophile’? I’m eternally bemused by this.
It’s a process of demonizing the others. Gay sex and relationships are not as icky as they used to be, so they have to be conflated with something that is still considered abhorrent. I’ll be addressing some of that in the second part of my post on Age of Consent.
For a religion that talks love and tolerance, they seem to spend a lot of effort on hate and discrimination. But “hypocrite” and “christian” are nearly semantically equal.

If the boy scouts and girl scouts kicked out everyone of their members who had ever experimented with sex with other members, the next jamboree would be a very lonely one. But PR is way too stupid and willfully ignorant to konw that.
Ah see then they would just do sex with themselves and according to one of the fundy preachers, that’s gay too because you are having same sex with yourself. Wish I could remember the guys name, so I could back this up with a source but I cannot.
Same guy that thinks 25% of the rightiest of the right-wing can tell the rest of us what to do because Jebus. Damn kids anyway, wanting to do sex with each other, like THAT has never happened before in the history of history. Irony has left the building to die of embarrassment in a dark alley somewhere Pat.
He’s definitely an embarrassment Jess, and he gets worse every day. Good for me though. 🙂
