UKIP – the ‘United Kingdom Independence Party’ have found their supporter base far surpassing the Liberal Democrats. Now, whilst the Liberal Democrats have been somewhat irrelevant for years, they were still classed as one of the 3 ‘mainstream political parties’. Suddenly, despite not yet having any politicians in the Houses of Parliament, UKIP are rapidly becoming the third ‘mainstream’ party at the expense of the Liberal Democrats.
This has occurred solely because our ‘recognised’ mainstream parties are doing their damndest to prevent the British people actually having a say in whether Britain should or should not remain a part of The European Union.
I suspect, as many do, that if we were actually allowed a referendum on this matter – GOOD GRIEF! A referendum?? Anyone would think we’re a democracy!! Disgraceful suggestion!! – we would actually vote to leave The European Union.
Europhiles insist that leaving the EU would be a disaster for Britain. I disagree but I admit, they may be right. Who knows?
The point is, British Europhiles are so determined that Britain remains IN the EU that they are vehemently opposed to a national referendum – almost certainly because they know that the Brits would vote to leave the EU.
The bottom line is this.
If Britain IS a democracy then the British people are entitled to vote on the issue of EU membership – mainly because we’ve never been given such a vote before.
The British people vote and we leave or we don’t.
It’s that simple. Well it is if you aren’t a Europhile anyway.
Remarkably, even German Chancellor Angela Merkel has conceded that The European Union really needs to consider returning sovereign powers back to ‘sovereign states’.
On reading Merkel’s opinion the other day I almost choked on my bacon sandwich.
Merkel? The German’s? They agree with us? They agree with The Brits?
Either something is afoot or The European Union is planning to invade us to shut us up.
Prime Minister ‘Call me Dave’ Cameron has promised Britain a national referendum – sadly, instead of just holding the damn thing he’s stalling until he gets elected at the next General Election ‘as of right’ rather than ‘power sharing’ with the ridiculous Liberal Democrats.
You’re trying to bribe us Dave aren’t you? We could have a referendum next year – actually, we could have had one this year.
Even, it appears, Merkel is beginning to realise the folly that is the EU.
If even the Germans are starting to realise it Dave, get your finger out and let us, the people, the one’s who count have OUR say.
Democracy Dave. That’s what it’s called. Bloody inconvenient for you politicians I know but either give us our democratic vote or admit that you don’t actually like democracy.
