The tale of another whacked out, irresponsible, hypocritical gun nut, and this time it happens to be a staunch supporter of gun rights, North Carolina lawmaker Rep. Renee Ellmers who left an assault rifle unsecured, easy picking for thieves and even children.

An AR-15 rifle was stolen from the congresswoman’s home last week after it was left leaning against a gun locker in an unlocked garage, the Raleigh News & Observer reports. The North Carolina Republican was away in Washington, DC, at the time, and police say the weapon belonged to her college-age son, who had left it there after going target shooting with his father.

The gun locker and a GPS unit were also stolen, police say. Under state gun-storage laws, charges could be filed if it turns out the gun was stolen by a minor. Ellmers—whose website says she “believes that gun owners must be responsible for the use and care of their guns”—is upset by the theft and the fact that the gun was left unsecured, a spokesman says. “Her family is very big on gun safety and she wants to get to the bottom of this herself,” he tells ABC11.

So this is how yet another Republican lawmaker sets an example for the rest of us.

I have no idea what an AR-15 is – which is probably a good thing. Silly moo.

“…she ‘believes that gun owners must be responsible for the use and care of their guns’…”

Does this mean that her son will share responsibility for any crimes committed using that rifle (beyond the original theft)?

This also raises the question of how secure a weapon can be in a gun locker which can, itself, be stolen. Aren’t those made to be bolted to a wall, floor or other structural element?

How upset will she be when that rifle is used to kill someone?

Yes, gun safes are meant to be secured in a manner that they cannot be easily removed. Responsible gun owners train their family not to leave a weapon in such a careless manner.

Again, another hypocritical, lying political hack is exposed.

I was thinking the same thing about the gun locker E A. What good is the gun locker if they can just steal it. Boy these people are stupid.

Perhaps not just stupid. Perhaps they just don’t care?
