Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson: Gays are full of murder, envy, strife, hatred

A&E should have known that their TV reality show star is a raging homophobe. They should have known because he’s been raging for years, like many backwoods rednecks from that part of the country.
Now Phil Robertson’s recent anti-gay comments are the ones that got him in hot water true, but they’re far from the first ones he’s ever made. Our friends at TMZ unearthed video of theDuck Dynasty star giving a sermon at a Pennsylvania church in 2010, in which he says that gays are “full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant, God haters, they are heartless, they are faithless, they are senseless, they are ruthless, they invent ways of doing evil.” So, TMZ asserts, A&E must have known all about Robertson’s views when the network gave him a show. That being said, what did they know and when did they know it?
If that weren’t enough, yesterday Nutty Newt Gingrich compared Robertson to the pope.

Truth be told, people like these folks are just stupid and happy to not have to think any more. They just repeat what they are told without question regardless of who it effects.

If indeed the LGBT Community is full of murder, envy, strife, hatred” It is as a result of being force fed that murder, envy, strife and hatred by people like him for so long. In my experience we are not “insolent or arrogant” as a group, but we are as a group fed up with suffering at the hands of these egotistical, disrespectful people, of being forced into second class citizenry, denied the simple human rights enjoyed by every other American citizen. This has nothing to do with the Bible, but is in pursuit of rights guaranteed by our Constitution. If any are “God haters, heartless” or faithless, senseless, or ruthless, inventing “ways of doing evil” it be those who deny the only command the Christ ever gave: “Love one another” (John 13: 34, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another”.)
Which part of this do they not understand?
They refuse to understand or even acknowledge anything that does not agree with what they choose to believe. That’s the essence of all religion and all religious sects.

This guy is part of a television program that you know damn well there are certain to be some gays and lesbians on the production crew. Yet one more time the straight white man cannot get a break. It truly makes me sad for them, so sad in fact I may find the world’s tiniest violin and play the saddest tune on it. Wonder where all the free speech morons like Our Sister of Perpetual victimhood were when the Dixie Chicks were being threatened. Doh it’s in the buybull that their god was all about the poonani and the homerseckshual buttsechs was off limits according to them.

Of course. Now more news, the dude that created this stupid show was in a movie about the menz buttsechs as a gay for pay meth head. No lie, The Fluffer, saw it on Buzzfeed earlier.
Now I need to go ask my gay friends if they are “full of murder, envy, strife, hatred”. Maybe Phil’s right; I’ve never asked them :-). Of course, I should also probably ask my non-gay friends if they are “full of murder, envy, strife, hatred”. Maybe we could get a good conversation going!

To be fair, if only slightly, I do know bona fide rednecks who are liberals when it comes to homosexuals and I’m pretty sure none are gay.
But I think it would be wrong to attribute the source of such opinions to anything but the carefully crafted ignorance fed to Christians and of course to the Bible.
Perhaps that’s the reason some people need to stand up for Phil’s statements – it’s the word-O’-God, after all. I do believe he did say that it’s not up to us to judge people, all the while he was judging them, but faith is not to be understood, which is another way of saying it makes no goddamn sense.
Glenn I also know some “rednecks” who are fairly liberal in their thinking. It’s not fair to paint all with the same broad brush, but I find myself doing that from time to time. Bad habits are hard to break.
I’ve been in the South long enough to find myself saying ‘all y’all’ and ‘I might could’ but that’s not enough to gain acceptance, nor any prowess I might have with the ol’ shotgun. I still feel like a doofus wearing camo, I can’t stomach Fox or Palin and worst of all, can’t find much of value in the Bible.
