Republicans building fake healthcare websites to confuse and mislead
Republicans are building fake health care websites all over the country in an effort to confuse and mislead people. This childish, and potentially dangerous practice reflects the overwhelming ignorance of the once “Grand Old Party.” The Republicans have shown themselves to be without conscience or scruples, intent on damaging this president and depriving those in need of affordable healthcare.
In California Republicans are taking flak for a website (coveringhealthcareca.com) that highlights downsides of health care reform—but resembles an official site and has a URL similar to that of the state’s health care exchange (www.coveredca.com). Critics say the site, which was paid for by taxpayer dollars and publicized by Republican members of the state assembly, is a deliberate attempt to mislead people looking for the real thing, much like 10 other imitation sites that have already been shut down, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
“Republicans in Sacramento have wasted taxpayer dollars building a fake website in an attempt to sow confusion and fear, in a futile attempt to discredit the law,” charges the chairman of the progressive Courage Campaign group. After an outcry, the GOP site was updated to include direct links to California’s state insurance exchange, reports the Los Angeles Times. Republicans say the site was merely an effort to keep their constituents informed about ObamaCare, and note that traffic has increased tenfold since it first made the news.
It’s been a long time since the American people have seen such dirty tricks. The Republican party of today makes the party of Richard Nixon look like a collection of altar boys.

I am confident that this is the very first time in American history that tax money has been used to lie to the public. Right? Right?
Why are so many of you laughing?
In a democratic society we are quite entitled to laugh!!! 😉
I wasnt laughing. I find this whole thing sickening.
I went to the fake page. There is supposed to be a set of links at the bottom of the page: “Disclaimer – Privacy Policy – Assembly Republican Caucus “, but on the opening page, I was unable to scroll down to those links. Every time I tried to do so, the page snapped back up to the top.
I finally got to the links on a different page on the site, clicked on the “Disclaimers” link, and got this:
Then, on the page titled “Taxes”, there’s this:
Even if I didn’t know that I was on a fake site, this would be a dead giveaway.
There also doesn’t seem to be a feedback link so that someone could send a message to tell these jerks that they’re jerks.
