Bigfoot!  Movies have been made and books have been written about the elusive creature, yet no one has really seen him, or at the least provided proof that they saw him, until now that is.

This time hunter Rick Dyer claims he has really captured Bigfoot—like really for real. Furthermore he’s released an image of a “creature” that he says will make his place in history, the Huffington Post reports. “Bigfoot is not a tooth fairy—Bigfoot is real,” he told KSAT. “The most important thing to me is being vindicated, letting people know that I am the best Bigfoot tracker in the world and it’s not just me saying it.” Dyer says he’s shown the corpse to 130 people and recorded some of their reactions on video. “We definitely made them believers,” he said.

He also claims that “every test that you can possibly imagine” has been done on the body, including DNA tests and “3D optical scans.” A self-proclaimed professional Bigfoot hunter, Dyer says he killed the beast in 2012 near San Antonio, Texas, after luring it with pork ribs he bought at Wal-Mart.

He previously released a grainy video that he claims shows the incident, and wrote an account of it on his website that HuffPo calls “haphazardly written.” He now promises to hold a news conference where he will show the Bigfoot corpse and his various test results.

With any luck he’ll fare better than two other Bigfoot enthusiasts, one of whom was shot by a friend and another who was run over and killed while dressed as Bigfoot.

Hey, did none of you see “Harry and the Hendersons”. Of course Bigfoot is real. 🙂 Honestly folks, I don’t know if there is such a thing or not. I say that not because of the nut jobs looking for it or those claiming to have seen it, but because there are still places on this earth that have yet to be explored. It is sort of like the giant squid that everyone though was a myth until recently. Personally, I do not really care if there is a hybrid ape/man like creature wandering around somewhere. If there is I really wish people would leave it alone because if they prove that there is humans will immediately find and kill them all just because they can.

Hmm, god point. Did you notice that the “photo” did resemble Harry a bit? Could it be that life is imitating art?

Manufactured monsters at the side show and the charlatans who show them are a part of American history. I’ve seen a few myself. Well the thing has to be dead because it’s easier to construct a dead bigfoot than a live one. And there has to have been an “autopsy” because you have to explain the stitches and the seams and it has to be two years old because you have to explain why it’s so misshapen. I’ll bet a taxidermist could debunk that poor man’s wookie in a flash.

No scientists, no peer reviewed articles, no doctors or veteranarians, no biologists no game wardens, no forensic anything and after two years he’s going to reveal it real soon in a press conference only after he’s waited years and first shown it to a bunch of rubes who say “awesome” a lot in the back of a dark U-Haul. Please offer to bet me big bucks that it’s not a hoax. Please. I could use the money.

Yeah right, he captures bigfoot and later on today Christopher Meloni, Ian Somerhalder and I are going to get our freaks on together. Mine is more believable since I can stalk them and there is always hope it could happen. Bigfoot, like the gods, not so much.

How does one make money or gain real “fame” (e.g. money) from such actions? Clearly, P.T. Barnum made a living on this kind of behavior, but there was far more to it than just a hoax. Barnum wrapped an array of hoaxes in an entertainment envelope and sold it as a package deal.

With DNA testing available virtually anywhere, one can’t perpetrate a hoax of this type for more than “5 minutes” before a visitor snags a hair from the corpse and reveals it to be polyester or dog fur.

So…what’s the point? What is Dyer getting out of this? And, is he Wayne Dyer’s disgruntled brother? 🙂

Why is it that the first reaction t anything new s to kill it?

I seriously doubt this is any more than another in a long line of hoaxes. Still no one seems surprised that the first thing to do is kill it.

I’m with you, James. What made him think that he needed to kill it? Somehow, I think that a LIVE “Bigfoot” is much better than a dead one. And anyway, if he killed it, who wants to say that they really are existent anymore?
All of that begs the question of why anyone should believe him without better evidence. Of course, I suppose the “evidence” is a good excuse for killing it!
And as for your having a huge number of hits on this, Mike, it certainly isn’t because anyone believes it! I suspect that it’s more along the lines of “OMG, what someone trying to pass off as true evidence of “Bigfoot”, now?!” There’s a sort of a sick curiosity involved.

How many of these have we seen? Not one has ever been upheld as real, and this one will be no exception. I want to see the body, look at the autopsy records, and have a team of scientists declare that it is, in fact, some weird dude with big feet.

OK then. I’ll read this in more detail when the aliens land their space ship and let me out. (The G forces make it hard to focus.)
