DIY Home Decor Projects: One For Every Season
Home decor looks can depend on the season, especially if your home has a natural look to it. If you don’t feel like using cheesy old seasonal decorations to keep up with the changing of the year, it’s probably time to start making some of it on your own. Here are some great DIY ideas for the four seasons.
Spring
Springtime offers new beginnings, and it reminds us of the beauty of nature. It’s a time when the world renews itself. For a great way to bring this into your house, find all the beautiful flowers and new buds popping up all over the place and bring them in your house. For a vase, just use old glass jars. You probably have some in the kitchen, maybe wine or liquor bottles, that you can rinse out and use as a fantastic vase.
To get the look right, wrap some twine all the way around the bottle, gluing it along the way. If you have any fake flowers or similar decorations, you can wrap them into the twine just as an added bonus. This gives you a unique and earthy look while providing your flowers with a way to bloom. These little details can really help brighten your home and help you feel in sync with the world around you.
Summer
Summertime means bright and fun. It’s also a bountiful time for nature, so one great way to express that is using a wreath. Wreaths don’t only have use during the holidays, and you can have a lot of fun creating your own. It doesn’t have to look like it came from an evergreen tree. You can create wreaths out of anything you want: leaves, sticks, flowers, or non-nature items like yarn, fabrics or decorative nylon webbing. Put smaller items on it for finishing touches, and hang it up for everybody to see.
Fall
Fall makes it easy to decorate, especially considering the warm colors present in most homes. All the leaves turn beautiful colors as well, creating inspiration in anybody who loves decor. It’s fun to take dried or old foods and turn them into decoration this season, especially considering Thanksgiving nearing the end of the fall.
For example, you can fill up one of your more aesthetically pleasing glass containers partially with dried corn or seeds, then place a candle in the middle. You can also use candy to do this, as long as it doesn’t melt easily (like chocolate). Try using gourds or even pumpkins as centerpieces or even large vases, filling them with other decorative items.
Winter
If you love embracing the holiday look and feel of winter, “starry branches” lends itself as one of the most fun decor you can have. Find branches and bundle them together in a tree or antler-like way. If you don’t want to use Christmas lights, you can find copper wire LED lights at most hardware stores. Take these lights and wrap them around the branches. When you’re done, you can hold up the bundle using a deep vase. If you don’t have fallen branches, you can put the lights on trees in your yard.
Now you have a project for every season. Don’t allow stagnation in your house!
Also too, fill up glass bowls with citrus any time of year and it makes you happy. I think it’s the colors.
