Michigan Republican: Homosexuality a Perversion Created by Satan

Crazy in Kansas was once a common, unique expression, however these days the crazy list would include North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, and Alabama, among others. The latest avalanche of insanity originates in a very Republican Michigan and it boggles the sane mind indeed. Check out this story from Americans Against The Tea Party:
A candidate for the Republican National Committee has said that homosexuals should be “purged” from the party and claims that homosexuality itself is a “perversion” created by Satan.
Mary Helen Sears, who currently serves as the vice-chair of the Michigan Republican Party‘s 1st District, posted a viciously homophobic rant on her county’s Republican website last April. In it she claimed that homosexuals prey on young children, and said that “Satan uses homosexuality to attack the living space of the Holy Spirit.” She went on to argue that the GOP “as a party should be purging the perversion and send them to a party with a much bigger tent.”
Sears is running to replace US Senate candidate Terri Lynn Land, who stood down to focus on her campaign. Under the GOP’s own rules, another woman must be selected to take her place.
Sears’ online post also claimed that Communist college professors were indoctrinating young people, and that Charles Darwin’s evolutionary theory “gave rise to Hitler’s Third Reich, Mussolini’s Italy and Stalin’s Russia.”
Darren Little, speaking for the Michigan GOP, said that the party supports a traditional view of marriage “but we also believe that all people should be treated with dignity and respect and these comments clearly don’t reflect those principles.”
The state party is apparently nervous at the prospect of being represented by Sears and Dave Agema, who has also made numerous derogatory comments about homosexuals. The Huffington Post said that the prospect was “striking fear in the hearts of some Republicans.”
While the official party line is to distance itself from Sears’ wacko comments, one state group, the Delta County Republican Party, expressed support for her views, and claimed that the Michigan GOP was falling prey to a “homosexual and stealth jihad agenda.”
With the mid-term elections just a few months away, the Republican Party is desperately trying to keep its far-right fringes out of the media for fears of alienating moderate and independent voters. Sears’ claims that homosexuality is a sinister cult or ideology is just one example of the staggering disconnect that exists at the moment between the majority of Americans the extreme-right of the GOP.

Yup, just send all the Log Cabin Repubs to our side. We are that bigger tent. Let the wackos go scream in the wilderness. I would say feed’em to the bears but I don’t want the bears getting sick.
I’ll just leave this here for future reference, when it comes to the sadz all the GoOpers are having about the LGBT community getting equality. On the democrats’ side we have reps and senators getting involved with noh8 and then the GoOpers being haters. Please proceed GoOpers.

Although when I think about it, it is a good idea. Purge all of the homosexuals, including the “closeted” ones from the GOP and they would never win another election. So maybe that idea isn’t so crazy after all?
Homosexuals “purged” from the party? Didn’t the Nazis try that? As I have read, that didn’t work out so well, either.
