Russia Poised to Ban Swearing In Movies, Plays
Under almost any circumstances, banning swearing in America would be the result of some bible banging, supported by politicians who praise the Jesus because it’s the popular thing to do. Fortunately for a civilized society the country is not yet under the control of the Jesus freaks. And then there’s Russia.
It’s OK to invade a neighboring country, or make laws against “homosexual propaganda.” But cursing in films? Intolerable, at least according to Russia’s lower parliament which just passed legislation that bans swearing in films, plays, concerts, and shows, reports the BBC. Scofflaws would face fines, and if the upper house goes along and Vladimir Putin signs off, the law would take effect in July. But first, a special committee would have to draw up a list of no-no words.
Those words would apparently include “hrenovina,” which the BBC describes as a “colorful expression for nonsense” that got bleeped out of a TVC broadcast of the popular Soviet movie, Garage. Its director called the censorship “an act of idiocy,” and it surely is.
In the meantime, bloggers might have to rein in the urge to swear as well because an entirely separate measure that cleared the lower house declares that all those who have 3,000 or more visitors per day must steer clear of obscene language and sign posts with their real names, reports RT.
Wow. Russia. Who would have thought?

Banning swearing in film, concerts, and plays, in Russia? This is just as bad as when the Soviet Union existed.
When the Soviet Union fell, I thought Russia was going to become a free country, but now I know I was wrong.
The only difference is that on the bright side, Russians who do not like it in Russia, can now freely leave the country.
That’s a good point Ross. Then can leave where once that wasn’t possible.
Well….. Damn!
Ain’t that some shit Stacey?
Well, what do you expect? Russia has become a christian country thanks to godlodyte Putin. He’s just taken the idiocy of religion one step further.

Rick that is seriously disturbing. Religion in the hands of an ideologue makes for a lunatic.
What a load of fucking bollocks. Russian pricks.
Have I got MMA banned in Russia now?
