Bergdahl Admits To Deserting His Post

Read Time:1 Minute, 14 Second

The embattled soldier who, some claim, walked away from his post on that dark night in June 2009, appears to have done just that, because he was disgruntled with the Army and its leadership.  Now do we actually believe that or does the reality speak to his capture and his captors forcing him to make those claims?

According to two recently released letters from his time in Taliban prison, Bowe Bergdahl offered an explanation, sort of,  as to his reason for leaving his base. In the letters, addressed to his family and obtained by The Daily Beast, Bergdahl claims that incompetent leadership and poor conditions led to his departure, imploring those in charge of the investigation of his case to understand that there are “more sides” to the situation.

In the letter, dated March 23, 2013, he writes (words appear exactly as he wrote them):

“The cercomstance from the begaining of my time in Aphganistan from immedet top to bottum where bad for troopers espashly in my PLT. […] Leadership was lacking, if not non-existent. The conditions were bad and looked to be getting worse for the men that where actuly the ones risking thier lives from the attack.”

Bergdahl was home schooled, and the spelling, unless it’s some sort of “code” certainly makes that clear.

See the letter, and another dated November 2012, over at The Daily Beast.

I would like to believe that the American armed forces would not allow someone who can’t even spell to become a non-commissioned officer.

Either they did or this is garbage. I sincerely hope it is the latter.

Or it could be that someone was trying to make someone believe it was him writing of his own will, and he wasn’t.

I was thinking that about the spelling – if it may be some code? I mean, it looks too obvious to me.

I thought that at first and then I read that he and his family went out of their way to teach their kids nutty spelling. In either case it’s kind of sad.
