You remember Edward Snowden?  He’s the guy who used to work for the NSA, until he decided to expose some of America’s most closely guarded intelligence so that the enemy could figure out a way to attack us.  Then, instead, of sticking around to defend his actions he sought refuge in Russia. He’s rumored to be Uncle Vlad’s best friend but when he returns he needs to come through London’s Traitor’s Gate.

From The Week:

Hillary Clinton says it’s up to Edward Snowden if he wants to return to the states, but that the discussion he started about the government’s spy operations would be best served if he came home.

“He certainly can stay in Russia, apparently under Putin’s protection, for the rest of his life if that’s what he chooses,” Clinton said in an interview with the Guardian. “But if he is serious about engaging in the debate then he could take the opportunity to come back and have that debate.”

Clinton added that Snowden should have the right to mount a legal defense should he return to America. The U.S. last year charged Snowden in absentia with espionage, but the NSA secret-spiller had already fled to Russia for protection.

yes…sometimes democrats can make arguments worthy of the tea party. come on home ed, you can make your case from solitary confinement in a federal prison for the next 25 years to life or so….what’s yer problem?

just made me think….maybe chelsea manning was actually being pretty smart…transitioning on her way to the federal pen. if not for the salacious public perception of transsexualism we’d have no idea where she was or what was happening to her.

If Edward Snowden ever loses his mind and returns to the USA, he will not receive fair treatment but learn the full measure of the vindictiveness of a government that has been embarrassed by it’s real activities being made public.

I think he made a serious mistake in going to Russia instead of seeking asylum in a country with a less contentious reputation. But he did what he felt he had to do at the time.

Shouldn’t that be “used to work for NSA” instead of NASA?

Snowden is a traitor and a criminal who needs to be shot. His activities exposed our intelligence gathering methods and put the country at great risk just like Mike says in the first paragraph. Fuck him.

My advice Edward Snowden…. Stay where you are, you’re a dead man if you come back to the United States… And ‘They’ will make it looklike an accident!

I think he should change his name and become a movie actor. Sorted. ;-)
