Supreme Court Christian College Decision Worse than Hobby Lobby
On Thursday evening the conservative Supreme Court published its latest ruling concerning birth control and religious freedom, and if you disliked the earlier Hobby Lobby decision you’re going to hate this one.
The latest feckless ruling allows Wheaton College, a private American four-year Christian liberal arts college in Wheaton, Illinois, to avoid ObamaCare’s contraceptive provisions as long as the evangelical school informs the government of its religious objections to providing its staff and students with any type of birth control. Keep in mind Hobby Lobby was only concerned with certain types of birth control, like IUDs and the morning-after pill Previously, the government required a non-profit with religious objections to sign a form handing over responsibility of providing contraceptive coverage to its insurer or health care plan administrator — now, presumably, the government would handle the hand off.
The court’s three female justices were infuriated by this latest bit of religious pandering and Justice Sotomayor wrote a scathing dissent, accusing the court of backtracking key elements of its Hobby Lobby decision. “Those who are bound by our decisions usually believe they can take us at our word,” Sotomayor wrote. “Not so today.”
She said the ruling set up unworkable regulations that risked “depriving hundreds of Wheaton’s employees and students of their legal entitlement to contraceptive coverage” and allowed “hundreds or thousands of other objectors” a similar way out.
The decision broke down completely across gender lines with the court’s male justices comprising the majority opinion, suggesting that the court’s battle over religious freedom and reproductive rights is only going to get more contentious.

Of course Viagra is covered. Take a look at Scalia. That guy hasn’t had a hard-on since 1953.
I mentioned this college in passing yesterday. Sickening isn’t it, but there is no war on women and nothing says you just cannot go pay for it yourself. Viagra, Cialis and the like are covered because well… jeebus loves the wood but female contraceptives are of the devil. Buncha old white Catholic men deciding the fate of more than half the population, since it’s been noted around 96% of females have used these assists at one time or another. I feel so much freer today than I did at the beginning of the week. Oh and I’m lining up men for when I eventually am allowed out the house so I always have a male with me to make any decision I may need made. Full coverage burqua is on order as I type this just in case I need it. I got it in a nice red, like the women from Gilead since that may or may not be in my future. I am of the opinion most of us women need to go all the way and go Lysistrata on their asses. I say most because the GoOper women that are all for this because jeebus are lost causes.
I don’t think Viagra and Cialis are covered Jess, unless they are prescribed in low doses to help the symptoms of BPH, or, patients are taking certain medications which cause erectile dysfunction. Even then the coverage is about 25%.
Ok then, but still covered at 25% is a way better deal than nope you cannot have it at all you will keep those ovarian cysts or heavy menstrual cycles and you will thank the lord he thought to give you them when he made you from a rib. I suppose when they finally come up with a male form of birth control pill that will be paid for though amirite. Seriously I have went plaid on my pissed offness with this shit this week. I’m supposed to go tomorrow with a crowd of people to protest a HL by handing out condoms in front of one of the stores here. If I get popped, I am going to use SCOTUS and tell them, well I was just doing sidewalk counseling like they do in front of abortion clinics and now they are allowed to do that because nothing gets you closer to a person than by being in their face telling them how wrong they are 🙂
If this institution is receiving any public money, that should stop today, maybe even retroactively.
Filling up a form is too much for them. Maybe they need to get people in there it wouldn’t be too much for.
