Not So Fast GOP-The Dems Just Might Kick Your Ass In November

Read Time:1 Minute, 28 Second

The Right Wingers are already celebrating victory in November.  Convinced they’re going to not only keep the House, but gain seats, and confident the Senate will be theirs they’ve decided that crazy is what the people want.  After all, they have reason to be happy heading into the midterm elections, with forecasts from respected outlets such as the Cook Political Report and FiveThirtyEight.com pointing toward a GOP takeover of the Senate.

At the Washington Post, however, Dan Balz isn’t quite so convinced. Republicans need to pick up six seats, and Montana, South Dakota, and West Virginia look like gimmes. Beyond that, however, things get more difficult. Republicans “have plenty of options but their victories must come either by defeating Democratic incumbents in red states or picking off seats in blue or purple states that Obama and the Democrats have been winning in presidential elections,” writes Balz.

Republicans boast that they can take the Senate without winning in any state that Mitt Romney lost, but to do so, they’d have to knock off incumbents in Arkansas, Louisiana, Alaska, and North Carolina. None are gimmes, especially the latter two. Democrats, meanwhile, say they’ve got better candidates overall and a stronger “ground game” to turn out voters. Balz sums up by saying Republicans are “in an enviable but not yet commanding position.” They may yet take the Senate, but they’ll have to “earn it state by state by state.” At the Hill, James Carville adds that Democrats can take heart from one stat: The GOP’s favorability rating is hovering around 35%, with Democrats at 49%. “In what other endeavor would you be selling something attached to a brand so unpopular and expect success?” he asks.

Rachael is right about the Democrats. Well, Maybe lazy is not quiet accurate. I think complacency is probably closer to what usually gets them in trouble. The right wingers are zealots, usually foaming at the mouth, virtually mad dog type people. They are the kind of people that are always looking for someone to bite. Democrats and those who are usually socially left leaning tend to be laid back and thoughtful. Therein lies the problem. It takes just about .5 micro seconds to whip the right wingers into a flurry and having them dash off into anything. A great example was the stampede to the Bundy Showdown in Nevada. Over night there more than two hundred people showing up not just to stand up for Bundy’s ill gotten gains, but with guns to back them up. The left leaning types would have spent a couple of days researching the issue before deciding to organize a small protest.
But you see folks, I am not so sure I really want to change how I am or how we are. Yeah, we may not be able to rock and roll with these guys every election, but the more they keep showing there asses and their stupidity, the more I hope that good people will start noticing them for what they are. What the retarded Tea Bag people seem not to understand is that they are playing a short game when the real real game is the long game. The white old men and the women they are able to bully are pretty well stuck with the numbers they have, but the minorities and the younger people who are seeing them for the shit heads they really are are growing in number. Ten years from now when the Koch brothers and Adeleson are withering away and old white guys like me are wondering what happen, this country will be a really diverse place to live. Mainstream religion will be on its way down the street led by the rich who have never cared for anything but the almighty dollar. They will all be followed by the pendulum that is now swinging toward the every day person. Maybe, at least I hope.

The democrats are a lazy bunch, and unless they get out and vote the republicans are going to take back the senate.

Now this is the opinion of a Brit who, frankly, could quite possibly be told to keep his opinions to himself and piss off. Fair enough.

Why is it not possible for the left and right of America to sit down and find ‘common ground’?

The right are not always wrong you know and neither are the left.

Sometimes the ‘left’ are wrong’ and the right are ‘right’.

It’s the same in Blighty you know. The left are so busy slagging off the right and the right so busy slagging off the left that they both miss so many occasions when the left are ‘right’ and the right are ‘right’….I nearly said the right are left then 😉

Perhaps we should try to embrace each other and work together?

Yep. That’s me. Naive.
