Read Time:1 Minute, 1 Second

There’s no excuse for kicking an animal, much less a puppy, but that’s exactly what Desmond Hague, the Chief Executive Officer of catering company Centerplate, did.

From Newser:

Facing anger on social media and a petitions against his company, the CEO who was caught on video kicking a puppy has now resigned, USA Today reports. “The decision comes as a result of [Desmond] Hague’s personal misconduct involving the mistreatment of an animal in his care,” says catering company Centerplate in a statement. A Change.org petition calling for his exit garnered nearly 193,000 signatures, while other petitions sought boycotts against Centerplate, which caters at stadiums and other large venues.

“I’d like to apologize for the distress that this situation has caused so many,” says the chairman of the company’s board. Hague’s story could be a lesson to other powerful figures to be on their best behavior, says a PR exec. “The old power structure is dead. You can’t stop something from going viral,” she notes. “Video evidence is more persuasive than anything else.” The British Columbia SPCA has called for abuse charges against Hague, Fortune notes.

What is scarily wrong with this scenario aside from the kicking of the dog, was the PR department’s response. They were like, “yeah, in the good old days, we would have been able to gloss over this, but the invention of the internet and widespread video recording tech means that we can’t kick puppies anymore and get away with it, which is too bad.”

You are so right. It took them ages to ask for this guy’s resignation, and from what I understand they clearly didn’t want to.

That’s not good enough. I want the SOB put in jail, and kicked around himself. By the way, I volunteer to do the kicking myself. I will start with his balls if he has any. 🙁 🙁
