You Cannot Have A Civilized Debate With a Conservative

How many are sick of these right-wing blowhards spouting their mindless drivel on television and the internet? I don’t know about you, but I just want to fucking scream most of the time. The only reason they have such an active presence is because they have nothing better to do than sit around at home and bitch about the stuff that they don’t like. And the only reason we let it go is because we just lay back and laugh, thinking, “Ah, they’re just a bunch of fucking idiots who don’t know any better.” Then we shake our heads in disgust and move on.
But we need to stop doing that. We have to get off our lazy asses and fight the fuck back. We need to put these bastards in their place and show them up for the fools that they truly are.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned after all these years, it’s this- YOU CANNOT HAVE A CIVILIZED DEBATE WITH A CONSERVATIVE. They’re almost Nazi-like in defense of what they believe in. You can batter them with the truth all you like, but it won’t cut through that titanium shell of ignorance they cast themselves in. All you’ll end up doing is frustrating yourself, walk away, and then slam down a few shots to keep from throwing a brick at your idiot, teabagging relative at the dinner table. Or maybe that’s just me.
So here’s my suggestion:
We humiliate them instead. Here’s the thing about bullies- they don’t like being made to look foolish. After all, it’s hard to intimidate someone when they don’t take you seriously. One of the great assets we have is that as liberals, we are educated and have an IQ in the triple digits. They do not. So use whatever skills you have, learn everything you can about these idiots, read between the lines of what they say and above all else, hit them where it hurts. If you can’t do it, find others who will help you.
The next election will be here before you know it, and we have to arm ourselves now. I can’t stress that enough. As liberals, we have a tendency to look down at these morons and not consider them a threat because we know that they’re all just a bunch of ignorant hicks. But they’re dangerous because they have strength in numbers. We don’t.
Liberals piss me off because we have a hard time jumping on the same bandwagon. We’re not united like the opposition, probably because we’re nowhere near that level of ignorance. And ladies and gentlemen- that needs to change. We need to start putting aside our own agendas and agree on what needs to be done to make our country great again. Once that is accomplished, we can start sorting out the little stuff.
We don’t need to protest, and we don’t need to raise money. All you need is a keyboard and a sense of humor. A revolution starts with one man, and that one can turn into ten, then a hundred, then a thousand, and then we become an army!

If you are, then take this article and send it to your liberal friends. Then post it to your social media. Hell, email it to your pets if you think it will help. It doesn’t matter where you send it as long as everyone does what we need them to do! It’s time to stand up and tell it like it is! Republicans love talking out of their assholes- now it’s up to us to shove our collective boot up there to shut them the HELL up!

Actually Greg, you answered the questions yourself. If you look at my Facebook page you will see a stream of letters to the editor and/or responses to letters or editorials or articles which are constantly pointing out the ignorance of these stupid people but they simply ignore it and continue to be stupid. As you said you cannot have a debate with a conservative, nor can you actually even have a conversation with them. There comes a point when you just shut up and let them be stupid arguing with themselves. In fact, the nice thing right now is that conservatives are arguing with each other which makes everyone wonder who is on first.

There are moderate conservatives Norman, but they are usually shouted down by the crazies, and then their constituencies vote them out. America is going to hell in the proverbial handbasket.
I wish the moderates had the balls to stand up and be counted.

Over here in Blighty our liberals are nothing like American liberals. Over here we are called socialists. I am proud to be a socialist although some of my views are considered more conservative but, as it’s with a small ‘c’I generally get away with it 😉
Our version of your far right conservatives are the British National Party. They are treated with disdain to the point were, apart from rare ‘blips’, they don’t get a look in. However, we do take their very existence seriously in order to guard against them ever becoming a ‘serious’ political force.
You may notice the occasional ‘Anonymous’ comment slagging me off as right wing and/or racist – so I don’t always get away with it 😉
But you are quite correct. Holding an intelligent discussion with a fanatic never works. Political right, left, religious – doesn’t matter. You’ll never get any coherence from them.
Are there no ‘moderate’ conservatives to help reign in the fanatical ones out there?

Norman, the reason we have such a hard time reigning in our whack-job, right-wing fringe is easy to explain. It’s also a fundamental difference between America and Britain- education. Brits make it a point not to dumb down their populace the way we do here. It was something I noticed when I lived in Oxford for awhile. In the colonies, we have a tendency to embrace our stupid people. When you have a large population of ignorant people, they tend to believe whatever is told to them. You know how it goes- the smartest moron in a room full of idiots is always the most believed. How else do you think George W. Bush became President?
