Black Teen Convicted of Killing White Soldier and Pregnant Wife Draws Little Media Attention

In Colorado Springs a black teenager was convicted of the murder of a newlywed soldier and his pregnant wife. Macyo Joelle January, a 19-year-old criminal, looks at life in prison after the jury deliberated only for a few hours before returning with a guilty verdict.
According to the Daily Mail, prosecutors claim that January shot Staff Sgt. David Dunlap, 37, and his pregnant wife Whitney Butler, 35, after they returned home to check on their alarm, which had been triggered. January, in the process of burglarizing their home, shot them both from behind.
According to accounts of the incident, Butler was “shot in the head as she leaned over her husband’s dead body.”
With a story as tragic as that, it is not surprising that the verdict felt no sympathy for January.
Because January was a minor when he committed the murders, his sentence is likely to be life in prison with a chance of parole in 40 years. He will be officially sentenced next week. His charges included those of burglary, theft, and aggravated motor vehicle theft. He is yet to show an emotional response to his actions or the verdict.
Meanwhile the media remains completely silent on the issue. What do you think would happen if the roles were reversed? In point of fact if Sgt. Dunlap had been black, and was shot by a white burglar, or heaven forbid, a police officer doing his job, the media would be all over it, whining about the police targeting black men, all saints according to some.

Mike, you just can not let it go can you. If you look across this vast country you will find numerous murders that are inter racial that did not grab national attention. In fact, I am working on one right now that got only local press.
But Bill this is the one I found, so this is the one I’m publishing 🙂
Mike you are so right. America’s liberals are so enamored with black males they can’t accept they are responsible for the the majority of crime. As you point out if the killer here had been white and the family black the news would have been all over it.

I’m wary of “would have” arguments since you can basically say anything about anything with equal accuracy. It’s usually only a way to pretend to give authority to an empty statement of opinion.
