Michelle Nunn Polls Ahead of David Perdue For Georgia Senate Seat
Things might be looking up for beleaguered Democrats as, in at least one state, originally considered a certain win for Republicans, a Democrat is pulling ahead of her challenger.
From TheWeek.com:
With two weeks to go before election day, a new poll finds Democratic candidate Michelle Nunn ahead in Georgia’s surprisingly tight Senate race.
Nunn tops Republican candidate David Perdue 46 percent to 44 percent in the poll, released Wednesday by SurveyUSA. Nunn’s lead comes as support for Perdue has “steadily, yet slightly declined over the past six weeks” according to the local NBC affiliate.
Though the GOP was once heavily favored to win Georgia’s open Senate seat, Nunn has pulled ahead in several recent polls, and the latest New York Times forecast gives her a 39 percent chance of winning. An upset win there would greatly increase Democrats’ chances of holding the Senate, as several of their incumbent candidates have begun to fade down the stretch.
