Odds of Elizabeth Warren Presidential Run Increase Significantly

Read Time:1 Minute, 51 Second

Senator Elizabeth Warren is a Democrat through and through, and not to be confused with the many Blue Dogs and other Republican Democrats that populate the senate.  For the last year or so speculation about a presidential run have increased, and after her stand on the latest spending bill, one agreed to by President Obama and other Republican Democrats, liberals and independents all over the country are talking.  Does this mean she might actually run for the top job?   An outspoken critic of Republican shenanigans, it’s rumored that talk of a presidential run makes them very nervous.

United States Senator Elizabeth Warren has come out swinging against her very own party on two highly contentious issues in recent weeks, and it could be a subtle indication that she’s moving closer to a presidential run, writes Danny Vinik at the New Republic.

In her latest outing she managed to piss off the White House by opposing President Obama’s nomination of moneyed investment banker Antonio Weiss for the number-three position at the Treasury department, arguing in the Huffington Post that his nomination contributed to a message “that whatever goes wrong in this economy, the Wall Street banks will be protected first.”

This week, Senator Warren took on the new spending bill, slamming a rider that derailed part of Dodd-Frank financial reform. The measure, she said on the Senate floor, “would let derivatives traders on Wall Street gamble with taxpayer money and get bailed out by the government when their risky bets threaten to blow up our financial system.”

Once again, she was going against President Obama, who supported the bill, which eventually passed. Both these issues “hold significant appeal for the Democratic base that believes Obama has grown too close to Wall Street as well as a number of other disenchantments, and worries that (Hillary) Clinton might be more of the same,” Vinik writes.

When questioned Warren’s press secretary still says she “isn’t running for president,” but that doesn’t mean she won’t. Click for the full piece, and check out what Warren really thinks about the political charade played out daily in Congress.

I don’t think she will run. More than likely she will sit this one out and continue to make life a living hell for the bankers from her Senate position. Clinton is still the odds on favorite to run for the Democrats and Jeb Bush for the Republicans. There is a good chance that the Republicans will continue to screw things up over the next two years and the Democrats will take back the Senate in 2016. What people like Cruz and Mike Lee do not yet understand is the changing demographics in the country. By 2020 the Hispanic and black population will have gained even more ground in the electoral process even at the state and local level. The Tea Party’s fair haired children will soon be relics of the past just as the confederacy has become. They will become much like Ron Paul, always running a wanna be campaign.
The big issue for the Republicans will be who can survive the primaries. I think it will be Jeb Bush. The only question will be, does he get pushed into corners that he cannot get out of like Mitt Romney. Hillary will be running as a moderate progressive. She will not swing to far to the left on anything because most everyone knows her and she does not have to do that. The Republicans will try their “swift style” tactics on her but with Bill at her side they will never work.

She has already said she will not run, she’s better off where she is.

Had the democrats acted like democrats after they won big in 2008 they would have won in 2010,12 and 14. And I wouldn’t be a republican now.
