The 36-acre Rio Grande Botanic Garden is right along the banks of the Rio Grande River. Not only does the garden feature plants typically found in the Southwest, this oasis in the desert also has an exhibit on colorful plants found in Mediterranean climates, a Japanese garden, a dragonfly sanctuary, an indoor butterfly house, and a fantasy garden for children. Since the Rio Grande Botanic Garden is situated in the northwest part of the city, guests will have an easy time finding cheap hotels in Albuquerque around the area, enabling them to explore this fascinating destination.
The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is owned and operated by 19 Indian Pueblos of New Mexico. Their goal is to showcase the history of the Pueblo people from when they first settled on the land until the present. Along with an art gallery, gift store, and café, the center also features a 10,000 square foot museum. It houses artifacts that demonstrate the creative ways through which ancient settlers thrived in the desert climate. Every weekend, the center also holds artist demonstrations and Indian dances that are open to the public. Those staying at Hotel Andaluz are just a short drive away from the center.
Located northeast of the city, the Sandia Peak Tramway offers a thrilling experience and some of the best views of Albuquerque and its surrounding desert. Once at the peak, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area, as well as plenty of hiking trails.
If they get hungry, they can even grab a bite to eat at the High Finance Restaurant, which is only accessible by the tram ride. Since the Sandia Peak Tramway is only accessible by car, visitors should look into staying at a nearby hotel, such as Nativo Lodge.
