Whiny Alex Trebek Threatens to Quit Over ‘Whiny’ Jeopardy Kid

Read Time:50 Second

Alex Trebek, the ultimate spoiled brat of the game show industry, almost walked away from his three-decade-long gig hosting Jeopardy!—and all because of a whiny Jeopardy! Kids contestant, according to newly leaked emails from the Sony hack obtained by Radar.

The little girl was upset when she was eliminated from the game before Final Jeopardy, and ran backstage to her mother, crying. The mom later wrote to producers that she would never forgive Trebek for not bothering to console her daughter, and producers asked Trebek to re-tape the segment to appease her.

Trebek, long known among industry insiders as a ‘nasty prima donna,’ didn’t like that, ranting to producers that he was not happy “corporate” was not supporting him. “Maybe it’s time for me to move on,” he wrote. “It’s not a threat, but I want to let you know how I’m feeling.”

He has long been a whiner and a prima donna. No fan here.

We can’t all win. A life lesson for the girl and her mother. I had kids I coached in different sports who were really bad and really didn’t want to be there. I made sure they played though. The end of the year some of the parents inevitably asked me why Junior wasn’t on the all star team. I was honest and direct as to why and offered encouragement but I was a coach. Trebek is a game show host. All he owes is his performance behind his podium.

Good points I suppose, but he didn’t have to whine about it like a real republican 🙂

I am not sure I agree Mike. The kid lost, end of story. To have to go back and re tape the thing just to appease the little girl sends the wrong message. The kid will remember that she lost the game and hopefully realize that winning and losing is part of life. Making them re tape the show tells her that when she screws something somebody will always make it better.

You’re probably right Bill. I just don’t like Trebek.
