Cast of All Gals Ghostbusters Set
It looks like the new all-female Ghostbusters movie will star Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
McCarthy and Wiig join the cast with at least one blockbuster comedy under their belt—Bridesmaids— but neither McKinnon nor Jones have starred in a movie of this caliber. They are hilarious however, and both are currently on Saturday Night Live. McKinnon won an Emmy for her work on the show last year.
The rumor of this movie has been circulating since early August. The star of the original Ghostbusters movie, Bill Murray, gave his top picks for an all-female cast: Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Linda Cardellini, and Emma Stone.
It looks like Murray got 2 out of his 4 picks. A release date has yet to be set, but early indications suggest it’ll be worth the wait in any case.
Paul Feig, who created Freaks & Geeks and directed Bridesmaids, announced on Twitter in October that he would be creating another Ghostbusters movie, but this time it will feature female leads.
