Right Wing Stupidity and the Muslim Problem

Read Time:5 Minute, 57 Second

It has been a while since I have had time to write a post and I am sure you folks have missed my little rants — not. However, I have a few moments this afternoon that would normally be filled with college football, so I thought I would jot down a few words of wisdom for you. I like to tell my students I am bringing the light of knowledge into the darkness of ignorance but that works about as well on them as it does on the idiots and ignorant people of the far right wing of the Republican party.  The fact is I am still writing pretty much the same thing I wrote about those people five years ago, and they still are just as stupid.

rightwing

Here is a good example of stupid from the State of Alabama. The Speaker of the House, Mike Hubbard was indicted on twenty something counts of corruption, but he was still re-elected. Upon taking office he was re-elected to the position of Speaker. A federal judge ruled against Alabama’s law against same sex marriage and Hubbard railed about how one man could make a decision that effects the entire state when 80% (I think he is exaggerating) of the people are against it. At the same time Mr. Hubbard is using every Constitution challenge he can find to fight his legal battle but has the balls to complain when someone else invokes their Constitutional rights. This joker has no shame and he is an idiot. Surely, at least one of those charges will stick and he will go to prison.

You know I really miss the good old days of politics when the main goal of politicians was to take bribe money and get rich and run around with wild women and not get involved with all of these social issues. I am not a total stranger to the old style politics since I had a step uncle who was a councilman in Prichard, Alabama about the time I started high school. He was constantly getting kick backs from paving contractors, building contractors, and he got free drinks at any of the bars in town. All of the kick backs were in cash of course and I knew where he hid his money. If I ever needed a little extra I would slip in and take a couple of twenties. I don’t think he ever missed them. If he did he never said anything about it. But, noooo, these days they want their cake and eat it too.

These days the politicians from the far right have slowly changed the rules and their play book. Their long term strategy of gerrymandering the voting districts to give them the power over the states has actually worked very well for them. Their current strategy of changing the voting rules to disenfranchise minority voting seems to be going forward also. They now have control of two-thirds of the government. I guess the big question right now is can they hold their stuff together long enough to actually get anything done with this new found power. The answer to that lies in the fight between the Tea Party and the main stream Republicans.

John Boehner has shown that he cannot control the House of Representatives having almost lost his speaker’s position this time. While turkey buzzard Mitch McConnell leads the Senate does he have enough votes to run rough shod over the Democrats if they choose to play hide the ball from him? In the next two years will the Republicans make such fools of themselves, as they frequently do,  to give the Senate and the presidency back to the Democrats?  One the goals of the Republicans, for example, is to pass the Keystone Pipeline bill.  Meanwhile, there are oil spills occurring left and right around the country that put President Obama in just the right place to veto this bill because of the clear dangers to the environment.

The year 2016 is looming large for the Republicans if they want a political trifecta but again, as with 2012, the slings and arrows will be flying. It is going to come down to who can please the far right in the primaries. Mitt Romney says he has learned the error of his ways and now wants to help the poor, you know, the 47% that he called out as being lazy and worthless in 2012. If you believe that there is some great beach property in Colorado you might be interested in buying. Then there is Jeb Bush who is believed to be really popular in Florida until he starts trying to appease the far right wing social issues and the debt crisis caused by Social Security and Medicare.

One major issue that will be front and center for any Republican candidate in 2016 will be the Affordable Care Act. Anyone who does not say upfront that they are going to repeal it will be toast from the “git go”. The problem with that is that there is another side to it and that’s the general election. The latest numbers on the ACA are that roughly ten million people have signed up for it and are paying their premiums despite the fact that the Republicans have done everything under the sun, including shutting down the government to kill it. That will be ten million votes lost right there if it does not grow any larger, which it undoubtedly will.  Even Alabama is getting pushed to adopt the ACA because of budget shortfalls.  So this could be one of the deal breakers for the GOP.

Finally, I am really getting tired all of the complaining by and about the Muslims and the Islamic State. I have said this before and I will say it again: I realize that most Muslims are good peaceful people, but they must realize that if they allow people to live among them who mean harm to my country, don’t expect me to feel sorry when your villages get taken out by a bomb or missile. I am truly sorry for what George Bush and Dick Cheney did to Iraq, but that’s old news.

Right now there are 50,000 or so people in Syria and Iraq who are killing Muslims and anyone else they choose to kill. In Yemen there is Al Qaeda and they are constantly plotting against my country. If you Muslims don’t want the U.S. taking action over there then clean up your own damn house, and if we are going to do it stop worrying about collateral damages.

On many occasions American forces fail to take out bad guys because they hide among civilians. If we are going to stop these people we have to play by their rules and they do not hesitate to kill anyone that gets in their way. One simple solution would be to simply divide the Mideast into two parts, Sunni and Shite. Put all of each group in one part and all of the other in the other and build a huge wall between them and tell them to STFU.

Fine piece of work here Bill, and although I can be argumentative, I don’t see a case for that here. Au contraire…I agree with every word.

It seems to me that the same could be said for our own “Christians”, allowing their nutty extremists to live amongst them, people who mean harm to our country, who mean to impose their religious theology upon the rest. And they have been killing fellow Americans for years with church and abortion clinic bombings for example. And now from positions of political power by denying a living wage, food assistance, housing, medical care, and now education to those they deem un-deserving. I hope the good people of America will rise up against our own extremists before our own cities and towns start to suffer the bombs and missiles….. is that so far from gas, flash bang grenades, rubber bullets?

Yeah but this story isn’t about christians is it? Where does it talk about christians and as far as I know, and I’m no fan of a christian or any religion, they aren’t invading cities and chopping off people’s heads.

Tommy, you are correct in that I did not write about Christians, per se, however at the heart of the far right wingers you will find the Bible Bangers claiming moral superiority over everyone.

Tall Stacey I could not agree with you more on those issues but we have to beat those people here in this country at the ballot box. Actually they are doing a pretty good job of beating themselves. The number of people who are religiously inclined has been dropping steadily because of the antics of some of the so called Christians and because of science it slef.
