Beloved Star Trek Actor Leonard Nimoy Dead at 83
There are few actors who actually live long and prosper, at least in the minds of their viewers, but Leonard Nimoy is one of those actors. Today he died, at the age of 83, at his Los Angeles home. He will be missed.
(Newser) He lived long and prospered: Leonard Nimoy, best known as Spock of Star Trek fame, died this morning at the age of 83. Nimoy died at home of end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, his wife tells the New York Times. Nimoy discussed his struggle with the disease last year, blaming it on years of smoking, which he gave up 30 years prior. He was hospitalized for chest pains earlier this week, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

My wife once said “If Spock did a mind meld on you he’d go nuts” 🙂
RIP Leonard. Great memories remain.
I truly great actor and the only true Dr. Spock that has ever mattered.
Only one possible clip I can leave here. I’ve got all the feels about this being a life long nerd, all the feels.
My mother died of COPD. Like Nimoy, from years of smoking, something she finally managed to stop years before.
Nimoy was, I think, a far better actor than his role as Spock revealed. Nonetheless it is that for which he will be remembered and rightly so. He made the role so real that I suspect some really thought he was an alien.
My father died of COPD Jim, also from years of smoking.
