Geographically Challenged Russian Bear Invades British Airspace

Apparently “Putin is watching us” according to British ministers and, given the intelligence revealing Russian bomber and battleship incursions into British airspace and the English Channel, he is indeed watching us – or at least, for some unfathomable reason, sending his bombers and battle ships worryingly close to the UK.

“The incident, which happened yesterday, is the latest in a series of military manoeuvres by Russian forces around the UK as relations between Vladimir Putin’s regime and the West continue to sour. A Russian warship had to be escorted through the English Channel earlier this week and RAF jets were scrambled last month after Russian bombers were spotted off the coast of Dorset. The latest incident, in which Typhoon jets escorted two ‘Bear’ bombers from the coast of Cornwall, follows 12 months of alerts (shown on map, left) in which RAF jets and the Royal Navy have had to be scrambled to deal with Russian war planes and battleships.”
The question has to be why? Has Putin got only the vaguest grasp of world geography? Does he think that Britain is in Eastern Europe or even a satellite state of The Ukraine?
This is not only a cause for concern but also a cause for puzzlement. What is the daft bugger up to? Why is he allowing his armed forces to come so close to Britain? I know we’ve got a lot of eastern European immigrants here right now but really? Putin wants to have a closer look in case he fancies moving over here?
These regular incursions into our air space and waters are understandably annoying our politicians who have made it clear to Putin that they are getting a little pissed off with it.
Putin’s response? He rages at ‘old and stupid Tory ministers’.
Now I can’t entirely argue with him there. We have indeed got a number of old and stupid Tory ministers. Then again we’ve got many stupid politicians across the political spectrum but what, precisely, has his view about ‘old and stupid Tory ministers’ got to do with Russia’s continuing incursions into our air space and water?
What the devil is going on? What the devil is he up to?
Should we be worried or alarmed?
I’ve no idea. That, possibly, is a particular worry – not that I don’t know but – nobody seems to have any idea what the hell he is playing at or why.
Anybody at MMA got any ideas? We haven’t.

He’s gathering SIGINT.
Finding frdquencies, pulse-rates, signatures, IFF challenges etc of all the radars tracking his planes & warships. Then he can fine-tune his ECM for any later attack. He’s also gauging the strength of UK countermeasures, and of course pissing off UK politiciams and their weak defenses…. 🙁
