The Semantics of A Deluded Republican Congress

Read Time:5 Minute, 2 Second

There’s a great debate going on that some of you may have missed. So I guess this is for those people have just not been paying attention to the Republican’s issue with the president and his wording about the Mideast enemy we are fighting: ISIS, which I prefer to cal IS IS.

Now to me this is simply a question of semantics but to these Republicans it is a big, big thing. The Republicans want the president to state with unabashed clarity that we are fighting “radical Islamist” or “Muslims.” The President seems to insist that these cretins are not worthy of being labeled Islamist or Muslims because they vilify the very nature of Islam and thus they are simply “extremist”  much like the KKK, Timothy McVeigh or David Koresch.

Now to me it really doesn’t make much difference because I’m still stuck in the sixties when I was in the Marine Corps – they are the enemy, period. I really don’t care anything about their religion, color, politics, hair style, or which hand they wipe their butt with, they are simply the enemy. Being that they are the enemy there is only one way to deal with them, kill them, pure and simple. That is what you do to an enemy in a war situation. I know this because my senior drill instructor at Parris Island told me that, and until he tells me different, that is the way it is. He also reminded me that I did not join the Marines to die for my country, I join the Corps to make the other person die for his country, or cause, so that is also true until he tells me otherwise.

So why does what the president calls them make any difference? Why does the Republicans insist that this is a religious war? In my opinion it has nothing to do with what their religion considering that most Islamist or Muslims do not want to kill me or my fellow Americans so I have know reason to want to kill them. My job would be to kill those people who want to harm my country or my people. That includes people in this country who are on their side and who are either helping them out financially or wanting to go to Syria or Iraq and fight for their cause. They should be killed because they are enemies and my Sergeant said that they should be killed.

The president is trying to get other countries in the region to shoulder the burden of the heavy lifting in this particular war against IS IS and I must say the IS IS is giving pretty much everyone else in the world a reason to want to kill them. However, them we will have Muslims fighting Muslims and in the mix of things I might get confused as to who, exactly, and I supposed to be killing. So, right now, I am good with the “Violent Extremist” as a description of who I need to kill although there are some of those in this country I may want to start with first.

Now if, and I do mean if, we are going to have to more precision to the labels we attach to people before we can kill and call enemies, we need to refine some of our labels for folks in this country. I would think that there are groups we need to start labeling as “Christian Radicals” or maybe Extreme Baptist or Evangelicals or Pentecostals or something along that line so we know the difference between the good ones and the bad ones. I also believe that we need to be calling on their leaders to take the lead in eradicating those bad ones.

For example, where were all the Baptists when the Westboro Baptist people were protesting at military funerals. Should we not have labeled them as Radical Baptist and wiped them out or at least held the Baptist leaders feet to the fire until they got them under control. I mean really, it is much the same issue. But no, you say, they were not running around beheading people or burning them up in cages and you would be right. But it is all in how you define bad. A young man or woman loses their life fighting for this country and this bunch gets to attend the funeral calling them fags. Just as bad as far as I am concerned. That makes them supporters of the enemy. Kill them.

Our government is so screwed up that we need to scrub it and start all over again. It is non functioning. All members of congress should be fired for not doing their jobs. Many of the state legislature should have the same fate. None of them give a rat’s ass about this country or the people who live here. All they are interested in are the politics and what it takes to win elections and be in power. Once there they have their own person agendas regardless of what is good or bad for the country. How many congressmen lately have said it is OK with them if they run out of money for homeland security. How many of them participated in shutting down the government last year.

In several prior posts I have advocated for this country to switch to a parliamentary form of government because this two party republic deal simply is not working. Surprise! We have never had a true democracy although we try convince other countries to have one. We have recently wasted six years in this country’s somewhat young life and during that time our congressional leaders have accomplished only one thing: they have managed to turn the United States Government into a pile of sludge because the people voted in a black president. That is it in a nut shell. They now spend far more time finding fault with everything he does than they do working for the people who put them there. Maybe they are “Radical Congressonalists.”

Kill the bad guys then there’s no more bad guys.

Works for us and works for them. Just depends who runs out of ammo first eh?

Obama is right – but, then again, he usually is. I guess your Republicans just get fed up of him being right?

True Norman, but it seems that they keep making more of them.

You are correct James. America is a show piece for the great American icon (for those who remember) Pogo who said famously, “We have found the enemy and he is us”.

To those that whine, “Violence never settles anything,” allow me to remind you. Almost every great question in history was settled by violence.

The Roman Empire, the continual wars between England and France, WWI and WWII, and so on. True, it may not have proven who was right, but it definitely settled the issue.

Yes, we do need to take the country back from the corporate greed that is currently running it and the elected lackeys that shill for them. Is violent revolution as in 1776 the answer?

No, not yet. The government does control the military and police (same thing, really) and most of them will not come to the aid of civilians because their platoon sergeant told them not to do that. Unless that changes radically, a civilian uprising is doomed to failure.
