What happens when Chris Christie abandons his niche
As a noted republican strategist I am perhaps more qualified than any other to critique fellow republicans. One must be able to sort the true idiocy from the pseudo-idiocies spouted by republicans that aren’t idiots, but understand the importance of playing to the idiots that make up a large part of our voting base.
Sadly this happens more than it should. And it comes down to republicans of national status forgetting their niche. Just as John McCain’s niche is demanding bombs be dropped, or Grover Norquist demanding taxes be abolished, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s niche is that of fat blowhard. Grover Norquist is successful because he never leaves his niche no matter what the facts are. The only republican who could get away with leaving his niche was Ronald Reagan but part of his niche was being addlebrained so when he did make a decision that benefitted more than the wealthiest it was chalked up to addled brain so republicans could look the other way.
Christie, however, doesn’t have that luxury. He spouted some ignorance about parents having the right to choose whether their kids should be vaccinated. His crime wasn’t so much the ignorance of vaccination choice, which is great irony considering most of us republicans are against choice, but because making ignorant statements that contradict science is a niche that belongs to legitimate idiots like Mike Huckabee and Rick Perry.
We all respected Christie when he walked the damaged beaches with President Obama after Hurricane sandy and reminded us of the functions of government. It was smart. We love Christie when he yells at the media for asking questions he doesn’t want to answer. It’s his niche. Loud and over the top. But our idiots are generally softer spoken. Loud and stupid don’t work in our party. Unfortunately for the Governor this gaffe most likely cost him any shot at the presidency.
Our idiots and religious zealots will not be fooled by those pretending to share their nutty views. It’s like their superpower. The Koch Brothers definitely will not allow phony ignorlectuals to have any sway. True blind ignorance is to be respected by republicans. We will not tolerate those who dumb themselves down when we have plenty of people we can support who are already dumb. We can trust them. Christie cannot be trusted. His best bet is to stay in New Jersey and yell at reporters. That’s his niche. Leave the stupidity to the experts.
There’s nothing wrong with true blind ignorance…having supported Oldham Athletic Football Club since the age of 6 I can vouch for that!
I don’t know about any of you guys but this 30 something took her ass to the doctor and got a booster shot for measles mumps, rubella. Having a compromised immune system, because of my cancer, I was afraid the doc wouldn’t do it but I insisted. I’d rather get a little sick from the shot than get really sick from any one of a few childhood diseases that are making a comeback. Plus I work with kids and if any of them are not vaccinated well I don’t want to go on.
You’d make a lousy republican Jess. You care too much what happens to others to modify your behavior. I saw where 2 parents were shot by their 3 year old who pulled a gun out of Mom’s purse. God forbid this lady be inconvenienced and put her gun where her child can’t find it. We republicans look at this as a victory for the 2nd Amendment
These opportunistic politicians take every opportunity to weigh in on the news flavor of the day, no pun intended when it comes to Chris Christie.
