Two County Officers Shot During Another Violent Ferguson Protest

Read Time:1 Minute, 31 Second

Last night two police officers, neither from Ferguson, were shot in front of the city’s Police Department shortly after midnight as crowds of violent protesters gathered following the resignation of the city’s embattled police chief.

St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar put it to reporters: His “assumption,” based on where the officers were and the trajectory of the bullets, is that “these shots were directed exactly at my officers.” The shots were fired as what had earlier been a crowd of about 70 people began to dwindle, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Some protesters fell to the ground and others ran. A huge police presence, including officers in riot gear, later surrounded the department.

A 32-year-old officer from nearby Webster Groves was shot in the face, and a 41-year-old officer from St. Louis County was shot in the shoulder, said Belmar. Both were taken to a hospital, where Belmar said they were conscious.

The chief said he did not have any further details about their conditions but described their wounds as “very serious” though not life-threatening. “I don’t know who did the shooting, to be honest with you,” Belmar said, adding that he could not provide a description of the suspect or gun. A news conference will be held “mid-morning,” per the Post-Dispatch.

Not surprisingly there is little mention of these shootings on social media, and, while addressed on CNN, it got little play.  If this had been a black criminal shot by police it would be all over social media, and CNN would be condemning the police several times an hour, if not continuously.  While it’s true that black lives matter, police lives matter as well.

I don’t care any more. I really don’t. Sorry.

I’m sick and tired of these protesters. If blacks wouldn’t commit so much crime they wouldn’t get shot. Innocent people don’t get shot.

As I’ve said over and over, there is a calculated play to falsely
Force and flame tense race relations to divide and conquer. We must be smart enough to see behind the curtain and see who is pulling the strings.

It’s a distraction from something bigger that affects us “little” people all the same, no matter what race. I dare not put what it is in print until others figure it out too.
