Is Trump Really Running For President Or Is It Just More Nonsense?

Read Time:1 Minute, 26 Second

I’m no fan of “The Donald.”  I find him to be an arrogant, pompous, smarmy blowhard.  Unfortunately, I do enjoy Celebrity Apprentice, and for that I’m somewhat embarrassed.

When I read that he’s planning a run for the White House I laughed out loud.  Trump has absolutely no intention of spending the time and money it takes for a sincere presidential run, especially when he doesn’t have a chance in hell of winning.

From Josh Voorhees at Slate.com:

An ABC affiliate in Manchester, New Hampshire, is reporting that Donald Trump will make a “major” announcement in Manhattan on June 16 and then head to New Hampshire the following day. WMUR’s source stopped short of “saying outright” that Trump will officially launch a presidential campaign at either event, but the television outlet says the implication is clear: “All signs point to a Trump declaration of candidacy.”

I have no way of knowing whether The Donald will actually run for president this time after decades of hinting at the idea in exchange for some free PR. The real estate mogul-turned-reality star has taken a number of steps in the past few months that—if taken by anyone not named Trump—could fairly be interpreted as an interest in running a legitimate campaign. He launched an exploratory committee in March, and made several staff hires in a few key states. Just last week he unveiled a 17-person leadership team in New Hampshire, the state that has long served as the stage for his will-he-or-won’t-he show going back nearly three decades.

On the other hand, if he can shop people over in the clown car, he’s all for it! It doesn’t have to – as Bill said, there’s no profit in it for him, but the more press he gets, the more crowing he can do. He doesn’t need to be president, he just needs to feel validated 🙂 What a jerk.

The “Donald” does this a lot. He is one of the few people who can play the media the ways he does. He gets more free publicity for his show and his many real estate investments than anyone I know. Of course he is not going to run. Even if he announces that he is he is not really running to win because he can not win. Trump has, at one time or another, been all over the map on various issues and even he would tie himself in knots trying to unwind his list of flip flops. There is also the issue of money. Trump makes far too much money doing what he is doing and being who he is to give it up to take the time to deal with petty things like ISIS, the two state solution, Russia and the Ukraine, and the petty domestic issue of the country.
