Krazy Kristians Demand Fox Cancel Fantasy TV Show Because Devil Is A Nice Guy

Read Time:2 Minute, 51 Second

The latest nonsense perpetrated by the Right Wing nutters that make up a substantial part of America’s Christians is so crazy as to be funny and it’s being directed at Fox TV.

lucifer

Their weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth, however, may just have an unintended backlash as their silly demands that Fox cancel Lucifer,  an upcoming TV show, may just encourage otherwise disinterested viewers to take a peek.

Lucifer is a loose adaptation of the comic book character created by Neil Gaiman for the comic book series The Sandman and its spin off comic book series Lucifer written by Mike Carey.  The series was officially picked up on May 9, 2015 for the 2015–16 season and it is scheduled to premiere in 2016, unless those Krazy Kristians have their way.

From RawStory:

A conservative advocacy group has launched a petition demanding that Fox cancel a show called “Lucifer,” arguing that it violates Christian morality, the Franchise Herald reports.

As of press time, more than 12,000 people had signed on to One Million Moms’ petition, launched Thursday, to cancel Fox’s planned 2016 fantasy series. According to One Million Moms, the show “will glorify Satan as a caring, likable person in human flesh.” The Lucifer character will be “portrayed as a good guy,” according to the petition’s authors — a contrast to Lucifer’s biblical portrayal as the devil incarnate.

Lucifer’s official website describes the program as the story of a fallen angel who has “abandoned his throne and retired to L.A., where he owns Lux, an upscale nightclub.”

One Million Moms laments on its website that previews of Fox’s upcoming TV program, “depict graphic acts of violence, a nightclub featuring scantily-clad women, and a demon.”

One Million Moms, which clarifies on its website that it welcomes people who are not moms — even if they’re “single” — is a prolific petition producer. The right-wing organization’s ongoing campaigns, which anyone can add their signature to, include a call to make Schick’s commercials for razors targeted at women less sexually suggestive and a request that Taco Bell tone down the implication in one commercial that a woman may have shown her bare chest to a man — possibly one she was not married to.

On Friday, One Million Moms launched a petition in opposition to gay rights advocate Dan Savage, saying, “If you didn’t know who Dan Savage is until today, it’s probably a good thing. But right now we need you to familiarize yourselves with one of the cruelest, most vile political activists in America.”

Reacting to One Million Moms’ petition to keep the Lucifer show from airing, Neil Gaiman, British fiction writer and author of the book that inspired Fox’s evidently controversial upcoming series, shared his opinions on Sunday.

On Tumblr, he wrote: “Ah. It seems like only yesterday (but it was 1991) that the “Concerned Mothers of America” announced that they were boycotting Sandman because it contained Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans characters. It was Wanda that upset them most: the idea of a Trans Woman in a comic book… They told us they were organizing a boycott of Sandman, which they would only stop if we wrote to the American Family Association and promised to reform. I wonder if they noticed it didn’t work last time, either…”

MIke, Let me be extremely clear here —> I agree with your comments in the above essay completely. The attack on a comic book based television show is lucifer, I mean ludacris.

That being said, the real question is where do you stand on the Mohammed Cartoon Contests popping up around America, curiously always near a mosque.

Television is pervasive, it is everywhere, it is inescapable. This show, Lucifer, will intrude on the lives of every conservative Christian. Don’t say they can change the channel, because its impact, images and story will reach into the community. It is an affront to the very heart and soul of their belief system. We are attacking their religion.

It is exactly like the Mohammed cartoon contests.

As Liberals we’ve got to stop picking and choosing which religions we are willing to offen.

Bob, I hope you don’t mind if I chime in here. Your comparison between the Muslims who react violently toward the comic cartoons of their prophet and the reaction of the more fundamentalist form of Christians in the country are are very similar in one respect. The Muslims choose to use violence to frighten people who might consider it while the Christians are a bit more insidious by waging their war in the legislatures where they overwhelmingly have the power. In this country the believers are in power politically and without the First Amendment we likely would be a Christian Theocracy and most likely without the same amendment any ill or comical reference toward Jesus would be considered a crime. This is a major contention between the Muslim countries and us, the differences in religion and the lengths we will each go to protect it. You may remember that in the early part of the last millennium, around the 12th to 14th centuries and untold number of holy soldiers marched into the Mideast to wage war against the Arabs for the purpose of securing the Holy Land. Neither of the idiots figured out that they were both fighting for the same God, just through different spokesman. It was Jesus versus Mohammed. Even within the Muslims nations they cannot decide which branch is the right one and they go to war over that. Of course the Middle Eastern tribes of Arabs were warring long before Mohammed came into the picture for thousands of years just Rome, the Celts, the Vikings, and other tribes were warring in Europe were warring. All these two religions have managed to do was two make the opponents a little more clear. They still fight among themselves and we still fight among ourselves, but when the rubber hits the road it is us against them.
As a formerly active Marine I am against anyone who is against my country, thus I am anti radical Muslin. As an American I am anti religion of any kind that tries to force or manipulate their values onto me. A country singer, story teller Tom T. Hall has a song in years past called “Me And Jesus” in which there is a line that says, “Me and Jesus got our own thing going, Me and Jesus got it all worked out, and we don’t need anyone to tell us what it is all about.” Whatever beliefs I have are between me and my higher power, if I have one, and not the business of anyone alse, nor do I need the advice or help of anyone else.

What fun 🙂 It looks positively luscious. And what better recommendation than a bunch of Christian prigs claiming it to be inappropriate and evil?
