Trump’s Greatest Hits: The Young Turks Decide If His Past Will Hurt or Help Him

Read Time:1 Minute, 15 Second

On Friday, The Young Turks power panel of Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz, John Iadarola, and RJ Eskow decide whether or not Donald Trump’s past antics will help or hurt him in the 2016 elections.

In this photo taken April 25, 2011, Donald Trump is interviewed in New York. After months of flirting with politics, Trump said Monday, May 16, 2011, that he won't run for president, choosing to stick with hosting "The Celebrity Apprentice" over entering the race for the Republican nomination. TYT’s Jayar Jackson created a highlight reel of some of Trump’s memorable media ‘buffoonery’ which includes a clip of Trump making a sexual pass at Rudy Giuliani, while Giuliani is dressed in drag. After reviewing the compilation, Uygur says, “I actually think that helps him.” The rest of the panel agrees.

Mankiewicz explains why Trump is so appealing to his base. Drawing from a Politico report on a Flesch-Kincaid grade-level test, “Donald Trump scored like a 4th grade reading level based on his responses in the debate,” Mankiewicz says.

He adds, “If you think this little piece of information is suddenly going to click and people are going to say, ‘oh wait a minute this guy is dumb I’m going to stop supporting him.’ That ship has sailed. They don’t care.”

This level of comprehension gives Trump the advantage to connect with people, “He knows how to communicate. In a dumb way. It’s very effective for him,” Eskow points out. Trump is notorious for overusing words like, ‘dummy’ and ‘loser’ and even if he is at an elementary reading level, The Young Turks decide that this will help him.

Reuters reports that piñatas bearing Trump’s likeness, including “a flange of blonde hair and a big mouth,” have hit store shelves in Mexico and are proving popular among customers eager to protest the billionaire’s recent remarks against immigrants. Get The Young Turks?

It’s obvious the Turks and everyone else are reading my well reasoned pro Trump articles and are realizing we can make America great again by supporting him.
