Dick Cheney: A ‘Worse than 9/11’ Terrorist Attack is Coming to America

Read Time:2 Minute, 46 Second

Dick Cheney is the ultimate warmonger.  A believer in a strong military, aggressive interrogation techniques, and an American presence everywhere in the world, complete with boots, lots of boots and armor on the ground, all with the goal of protecting the homeland.

On its face, this isn’t such a bad idea, at least until the failed Iraq experiment which proved that going to war without a clear understanding of how to manage the peace can be disastrous, not just for the enemy, but for the region, and ultimately for the United States.  The presence of ISIL and other aggressive terrorist organizations such as al Qaeda demonstrates the hazards and long term risks of failing to understand cultures foreign to ours.

The destabilization of the Middle East on the heels of the Iraq invasion has encouraged old enemies and infused new enemies with ideological vigor and a clear goal: wipe American boots from their land, and work to destroy American society itself through terrorist attacks and relentless propaganda aimed at recruiting new adherents to the cause.

It goes without saying that it is unlikely 9/11 was a singular incident, and one that will not be repeated. It will be repeated, and that is an inevitability.  The next large scale attack will, in all likelihood, make the tragedy of the Twin Towers look less significant.  In this respect, the former vice president may well be right:

In a recent interview on Hugh Hewitt’s radio, former vice president Dick Cheney predicted that a new terrorist attack was coming to the US. In the interview, he stated that the attacks would be even worse than those experienced on September 11, 2001 and that the attacks would likely come in the next few years.

When asked if the US would be able to “get through this decade without another massive attack on the homeland,” Cheney responded by saying, “I doubt it. I think there will be another attack and the next time I think it’s likely to be far deadlier than the last one. You can just imagine what would happen if somebody could smuggle a nuclear device, put it in a shipping container, and drive it down the beltway outside Washington D.C.”

Cheney also alluded to a cold-war era plan that would give the government ultimate power during an attack, although he claimed that the government would maintain “the constitutional-based government authority.”

“Basically, it involved having a government in waiting if you will ready to go in the event of nuclear attack on the United States so that we could always maintain the constitutional-based governmental authority,” he said.

“We operated and actually trained under circumstances of how would we go about providing for a government to survive if we were having nuclear weapons from the Soviet Union falling all over the country,” he added.

Cheney is known to be a fearmonger when it comes to the issue of terrorism, so his comments should come as no surprise. However, if a terrorist attack does happen in the US, the Bush administration that Cheney was a part of, along with the current Obama administration, are largely responsible for provoking those attacks by instigating conflicts and killing innocent civilians in the Middle East.

Sooner or later the Earth will become hotter than Venus, will be hit by a catastrophic asteroid, maybe a gamma ray burst as well and all life will certainly end. The universe will go dark eventually.

It’s funny how we still pay attention to apocalyptic frauds and madmen and forget the ones who call them that.

I hope the Zombies eat him first!
