The Young Turks: Bernie Sanders Trails Hillary Clinton By Only 7 Points

Bernie Sanders is a mere 7 points away from Hillary Clinton, according to a Bloomberg Politics/ Des Moines Register survey. Looking back at his polling numbers from May, it’s obvious that Sanders is a force to be reckoned with in this race. The Young Turks’ Ana Kasparian, John Iadarola, and Jimmy Dore break down what this means for Hillary Clinton and what the media needs to acknowledge by these numbers.

“Bernie Sanders is winning them over, it’s not anti-Hillary votes. 96% of them said that they’re for Bernie Sanders based on his ideas, it’s not a vote against Hillary,” Dore explains.

But Iadarola brings up a point that most media people miss, “You also have Biden going from 8 to 14 percent support. Now, it’s entirely possible that’s 14 points higher than he should actually have since he’s not actually running right now.” Iadarola adds, “His support comes almost from Hillary Clinton, which means that’s 6 points she probably would have if they hadn’t included him…” If Biden wasn’t included, it’s possible that Clinton’s lead is greater than 7 points.

Kasparian argues that Democrats will support Clinton, no matter what, because she represents, “[A] strong, Democratic candidate.” The problem is, they don’t look at her policies. Kasparian adds, “Bernie Sanders is a much better representative of progressive ideals, policies…”
