Japanese Whaling fleet Ready to Leave for Antarctic So They Can Kill More Whales For “Research”

Read Time:18 Second

Japan’s whaling fleet leaves on Tuesday for the Antarctic for a three-month, scaled-down hunt, the government said, despite protests from opponents who say Tokyo has not proved that whales need to be killed for research. Monday’s announcement comes days after Japan submitted its final plan to the International Whaling Commission after the commission’s scientific committee said…

Despite defence cuts I was under the impression Britain and America had submarines?

Sink the bastards – discreetly of course.

“Us? Certainly not! We had no submarines operating in that area!”

Who is to know eh?

I am serious by the way.

I may not agree with everything Paul Watson of Sea Shepard says, or his opinions on many other issues. But, I do applaud the Sea Shepard for fighting to stop the killing of whales by Japan. Japan does not need to kill whales for research. I am not a vegetarian, but whale numbers do need to recover.

Even ethical, fair chase hunters who lawfully and sustainably hunt deer, elk, moose, and other game to put in their freezers would not be hypocrites to condemn the whale killing done by Japan.

Please understand that it is wrong to blame all Japanese people for the killing of whales. Indeed, there are many Japanese citizens openly protesting the killing of whales.

I certainly don’t blame anyone but the Japanese government for promoting whaling, but the voters there have a better chance of stopping it than we do. I’d like to see many other policies that are damaging the oceans stopped as well. In some cases though, it’s fishermen killing the dolphins, not the government.

I’m not a hunter but I don’t see responsible managed hunting as destructive and it can be necessary since we’ve wiped out predators in so many places. Animals that have no real natural enemies are never good “game.” Their populations recover very slowly, but so many fish species are disappearing and their habitats being destroyed by ruthless, rapacious fishing and sad to say, Japan is at the forefront of these practices.

Many people, including Greenpeace don’t like the tactics of the Sea Shepherds who actively interfering with whaling ships at great risk to themselves, but
I think they’re heroes and I support them.

The “research” claim is disgusting and transparent and if Japan continues to give the civilized world the finger, I wouldn’t mind seeing it chopped off. I try to boycott Japanese products whenever possible.

Small steps for an individual, but if everyone did it. . .
