Should a private corporation really be in charge of air traffic control? Republicans think so
WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo on Wednesday introduced legislation to have a private, nonprofit corporation rather than the government regulate the planes in the air. If just the mention of privatizing ATC does not frighten anyone then they should look at a map that shows all of the air traffic that is in the air at any given time. That will frighten the hell out of anyone.We. did not get to the point where we can handle this much air traffic at one time through private enterprise. It simply was not possible due to lack of oversight and legal requirements for communication. In this day of international flights as well as domestic flights I do not think there could be an instant switch to a private corporation operation. While the Republicans continue to try to privatize as much as they can get away with the overall success of their efforts has not been very successful. The private sector in their operations in Iraq showed that the turning things over to private companies like Blackwater and Haliburton did not, in my opinion show that the services were better or more efficient than having it done within the defense department itself. The private contractors also gave us Eric Snowden.
These safety of the people of this country should not be a part of “the cheaper one can do something the better.” Not only that, it is only replacing one swapping one bureaucracy for another.
What could possibly go wrong amirite?
Privatizing ATC will result in the same chaos than ensued after airlines were deregulated. In addition, safety will be compromised. Fucking republicans.
Brain dead Republicans continue on their quest to screw every single American they can.
